From the looks of your posting, you scored some killer G-O-D on your recent trip.

I have a family friend who is deeply involved with the marijuana legalization thing. They just had some smoke-in and there was, as expected, heavy police presence. He posted a picture of some bicycle officers with the caption "les gendarmes." I fear he has lost perspective.

Bad meals from others create awful awkward experiences for me. You're expected to like it and eat everything, but instead you want to vomit.

In my case,it is most of the times better than my wife's cooking.

I did once.

The macaroni's soggy, the peas were mushed,
And the chicken tasted like wood

the chicken's rotting into something that looks like cheese

I always hated going to a friend's house for dinner growing up for the same reason, my best friend's mom used to ruin every meal. Everything that should have been crispy was always soggy and everything that should have been tender was always dry and gross. Worse than that were the few times I would visit a friends house and they would cook 'something italian' because I'm italian, which was always some version of pasta with sauce from a jar.

I'm half italian, and my last name is not italian, so I would try and deny it if they suggested that they were taking this route.

A colleague has just unilaterally decided to cancel an event in which I have a very big stake. (I.e., canceling it is going to make me look very bad.) I am so amazed that the colleague took this course of action that I don't even know how to respond. I sent an e-mail that is more direct and forceful than the kind I typically send. We'll see what happens.
