So honesty is your best tool here.

I might have to shave for that...

Honestly, it's been a worry with me since I have no idea what I would do after. I don't think people are that crazy...but she might, shes told me in a casual conversation about how she's always got whatever she wanted in life -- so I am not sure what she will threaten to do -- and not sure what she wants from me either. foo.gif

I mean, you're going to die unloved, unsuccessful and ugly anyway, why bother with a diet?

So I've already been in the office for a few hours, I am way behind and spent 10 minutes catching up on this thread. GRAR.

They suck, man. If the button is programmed to perform 3 actions, you can be sure at least one will not be taken. I pretty much have to hit the command and then immediately hit the help button every single time to recalibrate ffffuuuu.gif

Sucks that you're having problems. Maybe I'm lucky, I dunno, mine works flawlessly. I have kind of a wonky setup, too, with stuff hidden in crazy cabinets, wire runs under the floor, some components running off RF and others on IR. Took me a while to set up and I had some issues extending the blaster wire (too long a wire and the signal won't run, which was infuriating until I tried a shorter wire), but ever since I have really been ecstatic with the performance.

Whether I die unloved, unsuccessful, and ugly, should be none of your concern.

The reason I bother with a diet is that while I'll probably die ugly, I want to look good/better for as long time as possible.

Given your previous post, your time management skills seem to be even worse than your ability to incite my rage.

I could be wrong about this, but I suspect the real reason that airlines all started charging for checking bags (or second bags for some) is because of fat people.

Sure, airlines just want to make money and would love extra fees, but they waited so long to start doing this that there has got to be more to it than "lets just jack up some fees to make more money".

Prices have remained relatively stable so margins must have been shrinking. Partially because of increasing fuel prices, but maybe also because of increased weight on the plane which in turn takes more of the expensive fuel. According to some chart I found, the median state obesity rate when from 18% in 1998 to 28% in 2010. Those people are flying in planes and many of them are carrying a checked bag in their gut.

Its too uncouth to charge people extra for being fat (but not so fat that they can't squeeze into a seat) so the airlines couldn't do it. The political backlash and the difficulties of actually implementing any weight-surcharge were too much. But they still had to deal with the problem that their planes were weighing too much to make a profit. The baggage charges hit everybody, but they keep weight off the plane (or pay for the extra fuel when someone does check a bag)...I suppose to some extent, bigger people are more likely to check bags since their clothes take up more space and they have to bring extra for when they sweat out their first set of clothes.

Also, I wonder if anyone has started trying to price discriminate by weight for online ticket purchases.

We already know that prices can fluctuate based on previous searches (search for a flight/hotel a week later from the same computer...) so maybe they are looking at your facebook likes and your search history to guess at your weight.

I bet there's enough info stored in a facebook profile and search history to figure out someone's weight with reasonable precision (without having to get into analysis of images).

You can start the trend by charging the fat guy a bigger share of the gas expenses on your next road trip

As a leading bigot against fatties, I must say this post is Grade-A+++ dum.

I was inspired by reading the reader comments section on a CNN article about the possibility of charging overweight people more.

I'm not saying its a good idea. As a large, tall man, I weigh more than the average person (or at least I should...dunno how the fatties skew the american averages) and thus would be charged more.

Edit: holy crap, I just looked it up and at 195, I am almost exactly the weight of the average american male (who most certainly is *not* 6'2).
