Craigslist is pissing me off.

Trying to sell our washer/dryer from our last apartment because our new place has one already. First off, 75% of people are scammers. Thankfully they are painfully obvious, so they just get junked. But even those who aren't are mostly assholes. Super low-ball offers--spoiler alert, if I was willing to take 25% of what I had listed it at, I would have listed it lower, asshole. Reasonable offers are fine, but come on.

Moving in this city = le suck.

I've been thinking something seemed wrong with my hair all day.

At first I thought it was this new conditioner (Paul Mitchell tea tree) but I used it yesterday and was fine. Now I am thinking that I forgot to rinse it out of my hair...just got out of the shower and toweled it off.

these recent ads (microsoft/samsung) are seemingly aimed at people who want to validate their purchase of non apple products - FUCK THAT EXPENSIVE APPLE SHIT! HAHA SIRI'S STUPID AND APPLE SUUCKS ASS I JUST SAVED $200!!!.

I don't mind the commercials. especially when they do have good points (basically there's other options out there than the iPhone and iPad). But they even show these commercials before movies on movie theater scenes now.

thats something that pisses me off (a bit of a first world problem but still) fucking showing regular commercials you see on broadcast TV mixed in with movie trailers before movies now.

seinfeld had it right: movie trailers are fucking awesome and often times better than the actual movie. trailers for good movies give you anticipation boners, trailers for bad movies the crowd can snicker at in unison, but these fucking regular TV ads before movies just cut into trailer enjoyment time.

YES!! and now they preview before almost every youtube vid.

sidebar - 100% agree trailers are often the best part of going to a movie.

saw my sister today - she had a job interview last week and just got notice today that she didn't get the job. I think that she totally fucked up the job interview. she's been unemployed for about a year, and she and her deadbeat husband have been taking money from my 82 year old mom, who is basically broke. her bum of a husband extremely rude to me, I think because I had tried to offer my sister some advice before the interview.

It seems like your sister is a constant source of frustration for you. It's hard to believe you're from the same family!

You've obviously had a lot of success professionally. Why would the husband get upset at you for giving interview advice? And why would your sister not take it? (I'm assuming she didn't.)

Often at the end of a long day of work, I like to wind down and wander around the Internet somewhat mindlessly. Sometimes I pay hardly any attention to what I'm doing at all, and I push the buttons on my keyboard from pure muscle memory. But when I do that, I go to the Uni-Watch site over and over and over and over. I even get mad at myself for typing the "u" key, but irregardless, I keep doing it like some kind of automaton. That gets me upset a little bit.

EDIT: I just did it again, even though I posted about it but two minutes ago.

it is hard to believe.

that is part of the frustration - the smart thing would be for her to take my advice, because I have been about 100 times as successful as she has. but she won't, because of her pride and that she is older and bullshit like that. anyway, such is life. I was really depressed over this. she is totally fucked now

I feel your pain.

I had the same problem when I sold a W/D on Craigslist. I got emails with the most asinine offers, and they generally included, "I'll pick up today," as if that were going to get me to sell them for 75% off.

It was even worse when I sold off a bunch of parts from my Jeep. After I made a number of upgrades, I had a lot of usable stock parts, and there's a pretty good market for them. I posted a detailed parts list, and I got a lot of legit bites. The problem was that every bite was from someone asking if I had parts that weren't on the list. I have no idea what these idiots were thinking, but it was almost as if they thought I had some sort of alternate cache of parts that I would only offer to people who asked. It was like the recruiting scene in Fight Club where they thought persistence in the face of rejection would get them what they wanted.

"I see you have about a dozen parts listed, and a soft top isn't one of them. Do you have a soft top for sale?"

"Nope, sorry, only what's listed in the ad."

"Oh, yeah, I'm looking for a soft top. So you don't have one for sale?"

"Ohhh, you're looking for a soft top. Well, now that you've asked twice, you can be granted access to the extra-special hidden parts list. Don't forget that every purchase over $25 comes with a free hanjo!"

Curiously, we had a good experience when we sold off a bunch of household stuff before the recent move. We sold pretty much everything for very close to asking price, and there were only a few wishy-washy people or lowballers.
Yeah, we sold a few small things before and had great experiences. Actually, I sold a W/D before I moved to New York and had a great experience... But this one has just been a nightmare. People have no common sense, or manners.
When I'm selling something I'll just ignore lowballers. even if it's just a "negotiations strategy" on their part and they're actually willing to go much higher, bitter experience tells me that they will just find some other way to make me regret doing business with them. It's like if you're a lowball purchaser you're almost guaranteed to be an asshole in other parts of your life
