Things that are pissing you off. - Page 3174

I spent nearly four years at my last job, and, aside from a flat $500 given to every employee one year, there was not a single raise doled out during those years. The budget just passed for the upcoming fiscal year, which starts 7/1, and it's COLA/performance increases for everyone!

This means that, in the last six fiscal years, the only two with real raises were the year before I started and the year after I left.

Also, given I took my current job for the advancement opportunity and not the pay, I didn't get much of a raise at all when I switched. As a result, on 7/1 I'll be making less at my new job than I would have if I'd stayed at the old one.

Oh, and being that this was a government and I still own a home in the area, I'll get to pay a bit more in property taxes to help fund the raise I didn't receive.

Awesome.

I can't take any anti-inflammatories, which pretty much kills everything. You reccommend fish oil? The doc said just resting for like 6 weeks. I play ball 4 times a week. Hard to give that up. Except that I suck at it now due to this tendinitis.

This is turning into one of those days, where I'm glad I have a gym membership otherwise, I would have punched someone.

I got word today, that I lost a tender I have been working on for 6 months and having dealt with all their inane requests and to make a bad thing worse, it would have given a 300k$ commission.

Fish oil is supposed to be good for inflammation. Look for something with a decent amount of DHA and EPA. If they don't specify the amounts, it's probably not as high quality.

- the solution is totally simple - just stop using the contacts. But totally gross looking non the less.

optha and derma cases produce the most cringe/spine tingly worthy cases from the most simple causes.
I hear pornstars are prone to this as well.

Sometimes I think I am a strange bird what would buy lamps but then not take them out of the box and put bulbs into them for a whole year. Why would a person even do that? The lamps do not produce light if they are in their boxes without bulbs.

I used to hate the idea of gated communities and/or living out in the sticks, but I'm starting to come around.

damn, t.. that blows. sorry to hear that.

maybe you should start looking at gated communities there. although most I've seen there are pretty boxy and boring (at least where the md anderson doctors were staying) you might sleep better at night. plus it might be safer when you run.

dude, I've been dealing with the azn math genius stereotype all my life. I suck at numbers and people here always assume I can multiply and divide stuff in my head.

My sister seems to be doing better. She's been assigned to a doctor who actually seems to care and listens to her for everyday, beyond the whole obligatory check up on how she's responding to the medication.

She's still not fully well, though, and we're stuck in that agonizing phase of waiting to see if she can make a full recovery with medication, or if this is something she's going to have to deal with for the rest of her life.

I can't imagine the anguish this situation is creating for my parents and I'm constantly worried about how they're worried.

Life has been pretty shitty lately. I feel unmotivated, depressed, and just don't see any hope.

Sigh..
GF, sorry to hear the news about your sister. I'm glad she's doing better and I wish the very best for her and your family.

Thanks guys, and, yeah, I'm pretty peeved about it. That said, I still made the right decision. Even after the raise, the pay disparity isn't enormous, so it's mostly the principle of the matter. Plus, I hated the old place, and the medium and long-term opportunities are enormously better where I am. Still, it stings.

The funny thing is that there used to be a joke among the long-timers in my division that I was the reason no one was getting raises, given the last one they got was right before I was hired. Maybe it was true!

If you deleted your account and went away the name would be gone and we wouldn't have to read your posts!
