I hear you... I've just got too many live shows, radio broadcasts and odd ball albums I acquired through years at my college radio station to replace it with something like Spotify. I can't ever have enough music... been like this since I was a toddler, srsly!

You tried out the new google play streaming service yet?

If you sign up for the free trial now, it will only be $7.99 a month. No idea how the library truly compares to spotify, but so far I have found everything I have looked for.

I saw you or someone else post about it yesterday but I didn't know it had launched. Sounds promising. For me a lot depends on how well their android app works. Spotify is the first one I've tried that had a reliable mobile app but I can only imagine that google's is better.

Apps are already updated supposedly (the same google play music app as before, but now with streaming).

I found it a little hard to find the link to sign up right after they announced it (maybe its easier to find now), but you could try clicking here and see if it takes you to it. https://play.google.com/music/listen#/now

Only downside is you have to give them a credit card for the free trial (although spotify is the same if you want to demo premium).

I have no idea where to post this, so I'll put it here.

Today a lady found many pretexts to touch me and hug me. She also put various grievances against her husband into the form of spoken words. puzzled.gif

i hope you can get it before they start work, even if only for the principle of the matter.

very sorry to hear all that, B. thats a lot to have to digest all at one. i hope you pull through ok.

BTW, I think it's the other way around re: Diet Coke and New Coke: New Coke was basically Diet Coke with sugar, and was introduced because for a while Diet Coke was outselling regular Coke

also curious: would diet coke/coke zero be alright mixed with cocktails, or does whatever they add in there react with alcohol and turn someone into a mutant?

a former employee of ours passed away the other day- think it was stomach or pancreatic cancer. I believe I talked about it earlier this year- our factory foreman who had to take a medical leave and came back none the better so we had to let him go... anyway his wife came to my office yesterday to let me know her husband just died. guy lost a lot of weight, was very weak, asked for a glass of water, fell asleep and didn't wake up. wife was taking it pretty hard, and all I could say was at least he died peacefully and not in pain. also, sucks that the guy was the only one working in the family and they have I think 5 kids. I'm actually relieved that the guy passed away like this and I think I'm at the age where deaths of people I know is starting to become more common, like how when you were in your late 20s to early 30s your calendar is filled with weddings. anyway, I also think I'm starting to accept that death is just part of the process, and not something to be totally distraught about. oh well, everyone goes, so enjoy whatever time we have, gents.

According to my annual physical exam results, my hemoglobin and hematocrit are below the reference range for dudes. I'm technically anemic so should be subject to weakness and fatigue, and have a thoracic scoliosis so shouldn't be lifting heavy...

Fuck that shit I'm squatting and deadlifting tomorrow and Sunday.

We don't stock regular coke in the house so I use diet/zero coke in my cuba libres.

All of this because she is baby crazy and I mentioned I don't like kids. We've been dating ONE MONTH and she is already talking about children. What the eff?!?!

I need to cut her loose. This is nuts.

Its the best you'll get. Put a ring on it.

ffffuuuu.gif

lol. You have the worst fucking luck. lol.

So I had to go drop off some documents in D.C. the past few days. Not nearly as shady as it sounds but... it was a huge PITA, truly Kafka-esque (and I wasn't dealing with the Feds!). Had to keep walking between these two offices which were about 1.5 miles apart, finally got it all done. That said, it was better than two days in the office.

Anyway, because it was still light out late, I took a walk to the National Mall.
1) Tourists suck.
2) None of them have any fucking decency or courtesy at the memorials.

Get to the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial which was really moving. Went once as a kid which meant almost nothing. There were people posing and smiling for photos there. I was like WTF is wrong with you? Go to the Lincoln Memorial. Despite signs all over the place that ask for silence, its fucking loud as shit. Korean War Memorial was OK (there were some problems with the memorial itself but whatever...) and a couple of hipsters stuck their fixies in the fountain and were trying to take photos of them (I shit you not). Then the WWII memorial was just waaaaaaay too literal and reflective of the way Americans try to memorialize shit now which just doesn't work. I get that they wanted to show how the war hit every state and territory, fine. But we don't need 30 quotes engraved everywhere and fountains poring water all over the place with two giant geysers in the middle. The worst is that its right in the shadow of the Washington Monument so its like, the architects had no excuse for designing that mess. Memorials work best in their abstraction and simplicity. We know Vietnam was a horrible loss of life for the U.S. because we have a simple printing of all the names rising to a crescendo. WM expresses power and authority. I'm not sure what the other new ones are trying to convey because they keep trying to tell us what to think. It just really bothered me.

I can go longer if need be, but the feeling of not controlling the rest of my day sucked.

Fortunately, I was able to grab a sandwich on a run between meetings.

I almost don't remember what a clear calendar looks like, and this is the "slow" time of year.

Yes, pB, the guy who eats more than once a day, like a normal human being, is the weird one here.

It had not.

Okay, maybe a little while because I forgot to bring it inside the last time I wore it, but the weather has been mild and I park underground during the day. It's not like it was in there baking.

Good morning, mortality.

Don't forget the divorce phase that, at least for me, started in my early 30s, where a large proportion of the people who got married in the prior phase have decided they aren't happy.

Seriously, though, that whole situation sucks. I hope his family was set up financially for something like this.

Had my laptop reformatted at work, forgot to export my contacts. (Will still have all the emails so that's ok.)

My GF and I (again, not GreenFrog) are going to Charleston this weekend. I'm afraid of running out of things to talk about!
