It's funny.

I had a routine health assessment a couple months back where I was supposed to fast the night before in order for my cholesterol and insulin levels to stabilize before my blood test.

Well, I forgot and ate fish and chips right before bed. As the nurse was reading me my results, she casually said I must be vegan as my BP, body fat percentage, cholesterol (good and bad) levels, and etc. were superb.

She was shocked when I told her I had not fasted and actually had a shit ton of fried food no less than 8 hours ago.

I'm perfectly healthy, idfnl, as much as it must pain you to hear. Thanks for your concern, though -- turns out my genes are superior to yours.

Ya, ok. That's hard food to process. I relate it saps my energy. The heaviest thing I can eat in the morning are eggs, even that very rarely. Usually its yougurt or a banana.

Look, what you're saying may be true but you're a kid. It will catch up with you.

I could eat anything I wanted until around 31 or so. I didn't take assessments then, so don't know if I had the pipes to process all that gross ass lard you eat but I wasn't gaining weight. When I notices the train slowing down I changed eating habits.

I'm trying to help, not deride you. I hope you have better genes than I do, nobody should have my curse.

I'm 24.

Aside from my grilled cheese breakfast, I have a pretty healthy diet.

And yes, I'm fully aware my metabolism will slow down as I get older. But for now, I'm taking full advantage of it.

"Aside from" is code.

You're metabolism will change but you've developed food habits that are much, much harder to break. I know from experience.

I just got forwarded an email with somebody initially asking for some data and it going through like 5 different people for the answer. I don't have the data, but I know who does. It blows my mind to see how many people where totally, and utterly wrong in their assumptions of who would have this information.

just remember though, the more take advantage of it, the harder it will be to stop on a dime and change course. enjoy it while you can, but if you are smart (not dumb like me) you will start making small changes in your eating habits so your change in metabolism doesnt hit you like a mac truck.

Same way here. I have really shitty carb sensitivity in the morning, so my blood sugar goes nuts if I eat before 10am or so. Easier to just skip breakfast entirely and eat lunch a little early. Had a bunch of people telling me it was unhealthy etc etc. I told them I lost weight when I started doing that routinely and my blood sugar levels were better. They didn't really have a response. Just dogma that breakfast is essential.
