That thing where you overlook a part of the recipe where something needs to rise for another 2 hours (and was mixed yesterday so I could have easily rolled it out 2 hours earlier)...

I guess its a super-late dinner tonight

Sorry to hear this. I hope it can be resolved soon. Did the bank say how it might have happened?

A month or two back we offered to some friends of my wife's family from a few hours away that they could crash with us if they ever needed - the husband in the couple has an aggressive cancer and is dying and was said to maybe need to be in town for treatments.

Well, they took us up on it which would be ok except for two things:

1- This is the worst week ever.

2- the guy is off his rocker.

On 2, not sure if its the meds or his mental state as a result of the disease or the tumor or some combo action of factors but he is gone half mad. We are all up at 4am as my wife tries to help his wife calm him down (I'm awake and listening but staying out of it for now because I barely know them). They insisted on taking us to dinner tonight which was misery as he told everyone who would listen

I'm a soldier of god
I'm going to give [x] a hug when I get to heaven
I've been praying my whole life for god to fill me with the Holy Spirit and I'm so happy because just a few days ago he did
You know those terrorists? They are gonna get sorted out. We are going to find them and shoot their toes off. We are going to straighten out those motherfuckers
End of story. I've got a story. Oh, I can't remember. Next story. Your turn.
You know I'm a millionaire? I've got a million dollars and before I go I'm gonna give it all away.
[x] is never gonna have to work again. I'm gonna take care of them.

On and on. Tonight I guess he couldn't sleep and his mania is a little aggressive (tonight he keeps talking about the garden of Eden "you ready to go to the garden of Eden? I'm gonna push the button" (W. T. F. ) so his wife woke us, crying, not knowing what to do. Now there is an ambulance here. No clue what the fuck to do. I think we just have to stay up til it's time for them to go to the hospital in the morning.

On top of this this is the worst week ever. We are on a home and garden tour this weekend so prepping for 800+ people to come through our house and took a few days off to prep and clean but multiple work disasters mean I have to go in each of the next few days irregardless.

This is scary and awful and tragic and terrifying and could not possibly be more inconvenient.

you're a good man to welcome them in your home, and it is truly a tough situation for the guy- those meds can really fuck you up big time. but if the situation gets worse, they should move to hospice care imo.

Thanks bros (AND YOU OTHER COCKNUGGETS). Not quite sure what happened, they gave me a new account (which means I just realized I have no idea what will happen to my direct-deposited paycheck supposed to hit Friday and sent off for processing yesterday before I dealt with this) and I have to jump through a whole bunch of other hoops.

Oh and so today, not only do I have to go to the DMV for a ridiculous new licensing process (Thanks again, Barry!) I get to call the three credit ratings agencies and Social Security Administration.

I will say this though.... to get a "resolution" from a hulking behemoth on an issue that has delicate legal and security issues in 2 hours is sort of impressive when you think about it.

Make sure you write a letter to the bureaus. They don't give a fuck and your phone call will be easily forgotten.

will do. I figure my phone call will really be to ask them for the address I should send me letter to. Which means a trip to the post office so I can send the mail certified! Yay!

I've been in a really pissy mood the last couple of days, I think because I've been unusually busy with the kinds of tasks I don't want to be busy with. I am looking forward to the end of the semester.

They making you teach students again?

IIRC, he enjoys teaching students, and doing research, but not administrative stuff.

That's not the part that's putting me in a pissy mood. smile.gif

I am having to finalize the schedule for the upcoming academic year, but budget uncertainties are causing a ton of difficulty. I don't know whether we're going to actually be able to hire the person we want to hire for next year (whom I've already put into next year's schedule because it was supposed to be a sure thing) and I don't know whether we're going to have a budget sufficient to cover the classes we need to offer. But irregardless (as they say), I have to produce a finalized schedule. All of this during the busiest part of the semester.

I've just now made an executive decision: I am going to wear a pair of pink pants today. (It is sunny, so it's appropriate.) Maybe that will elevate my mood.
