Things that are pissing you off. - Page 3089

Observations from a meeting today, put in the form of questions:

1. Why can't people limit themselves to speaking about the issues at hand?
1a. Why do people talk about their feelings, of which I do not even care about?

2. Why can't people understand simple questions that are put to them?
2a. Why can't people give straightforward and pithy answers to the questions of which people want the answers to?

(For some reason, I think it is funny to type sentences with preposition errors. Now I'm not pissed off anymore.)

I think reading the second versions of those questions actually made me dumber. You should started using that syntax when grading papers to mess with your students.

I'll error your prepositions.

That's only 50 pounds over the maximum weight for a 6'3" Marine. It brings this to mind:

Everything. I think the dog has gone mad he's 14 and goes to the side of house and barks, the fucker. God only knows what he see's there. Then this morning he came in at 5am whining and wanted to go out so I let him out and then I am just about to drift off and he starts barking so I get up and the only way to get him to stop barking and having the neighbours complain is to let him back in the house mean whiles its fucking 0c.

Then later today the washing machine which was just fixed on Monday arvo, its broken again this is after paying $250 to have it fixed so here I sit waiting for the 'technician' to arrive. FUBAR

To be honest I have had a fucking gut full. Fuck this. Its a public holiday here in Oz tomorrow so I am going to get shit faced. The cafe up the road has a very nice stout on tap. SST therapy in action. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

A month or two back we offered to some friends of my wife's family from a few hours away that they could crash with us if they ever needed - the husband in the couple has an aggressive cancer and is dying and was said to maybe need to be in town for treatments.

Well, they took us up on it which would be ok except for two things:

1- This is the worst week ever.

2- the guy is off his rocker.

On 2, not sure if its the meds or his mental state as a result of the disease or the tumor or some combo action of factors but he is gone half mad. We are all up at 4am as my wife tries to help his wife calm him down (I'm awake and listening but staying out of it for now because I barely know them). They insisted on taking us to dinner tonight which was misery as he told everyone who would listen

I'm a soldier of god
I'm going to give [x] a hug when I get to heaven
I've been praying my whole life for god to fill me with the Holy Spirit and I'm so happy because just a few days ago he did
You know those terrorists? They are gonna get sorted out. We are going to find them and shoot their toes off. We are going to straighten out those motherfuckers
End of story. I've got a story. Oh, I can't remember. Next story. Your turn.
You know I'm a millionaire? I've got a million dollars and before I go I'm gonna give it all away.
[x] is never gonna have to work again. I'm gonna take care of them.

On and on. Tonight I guess he couldn't sleep and his mania is a little aggressive (tonight he keeps talking about the garden of Eden "you ready to go to the garden of Eden? I'm gonna push the button" (W. T. F. ) so his wife woke us, crying, not knowing what to do. Now there is an ambulance here. No clue what the fuck to do. I think we just have to stay up til it's time for them to go to the hospital in the morning.

On top of this this is the worst week ever. We are on a home and garden tour this weekend so prepping for 800+ people to come through our house and took a few days off to prep and clean but multiple work disasters mean I have to go in each of the next few days irregardless.

This is scary and awful and tragic and terrifying and could not possibly be more inconvenient.

I feel for you mate and I say this from having worked in mental health.

Here I was about to bitch about the fact that the washing machine has died and I have to go and buy a new one. Some how it all seems inconsequential.

ps they took the stout off tap the fuckers!

Douglas:

Feel sorry for you because it seems like your life is often an example of "let no good deed go unpunished."

1) My tax return was apparently rejected because somebody has apparently filed taxes under my SSN and tax ID. This combined with somebody else's checking account appearing on my WF online banking page makes me... highly worried.

2) I learned my license has expired. Because of this "Secure ID" law signed by Barry, I can't renew online, I have to bring something like three forms of ID.

3) The wisteria are done blooming by and large and many of the azaleas are dropping their blossoms. Only have the magnolias and crepe myrtles to look forward to and then winter is right around the corner and we're another year done in life. This is pissing me off mainly because I haven't been able to stop thinking about death and aging for the past few months.

Persistent tendonitis in my shoulder. Good lord, I never thought it would hurt so much. It's been about three months now. I feel like I'm going to get hooked on anti-inflammatories. The worst thing is I can't work out at all. I still play sports, but I'd like to get stronger to be less injury-prone, but now I have this shit. ffffuuuu.gif

lol, it's not even May and you've bitching about "winter being right around the corner." Trees have only been flowering for two weeks up here, I miss the South this time of year. I don't so much miss the five months of summer (which you glossed over there), but beats winter by a damn sight.

I have a really shitty desk at work, like some 1950s monstrosity from before anybody used computers. The surface is way too high and there's no way to rig it for a keyboard tray. Long and short of it, I keep unconsciously leaning on my left arm on the desk surface while I'm working and now my left shoulder hurts like a bitch. It's tough training myself to stop doing that.

Ironically we had this horrible office safety talk last week from our ergonomics consultant.

Douglas, sorry to hear this though you and your wife are to be commended for your generosity.

A few years ago NPR did a story about terminal cancer and how repercussions from it can affect the patients personality. They interviewed a widow who told of how her children and herself had become angry with her cancer-stricken husband because he had become a different person. He became mean and so hostile towards them that they didn't want to be around him. She also told of how family and friends criticized her when she talked candidly about his behavior and how it affected her and the children. It was a moving segment.

Dude, I love the summer.

And I'm not really saying that winter is just around the corner just meditating on how fleeting everything is.
