Hadn't been that long since I saved, but wtf? Now in addition to the two big things I know are missing (which luckily were mostly copied form somewhere else so they are easy to replace), I have to figure out which of the little tweaks to this other program got saved and which ones didn't.

I feel your pain.

mickey rourke's the epitomy of bad life choices... actor with potential, decided to do pro boxing and sucked at it, let alone I'm sure his opponents targeted mr. pretty boy's face during bouts. and I believe that is the reason he started having his face done.

Speaking of PowerPoint, I witnessed one of the most impressive presentations yesterday by a group of six college students. This group of seniors did a project for my organization and presented the results of their findings. The PowerPoint deck alone was superb, but they also had collected and analyzed the right data reaching appropriate conclusions and making practical recommendations. They presented flawlessly going from one section to another seamlessly with different presenters. What sealed the deal for me was that they were able to handle tough questions with poise, confidence, and factual knowledge. Mine you they were from a highly ranked Big Ten university, and I expected good work from them, but they surpassed my expectations and those of my colleagues in attendance. It was no surprise to learn that they all have jobs awaiting from the top consulting firms and Fortune 100. A really impressive group of folks.

Was this a mock presentation where your company gave them data that suggested a particular recommendation?

There's nothing quite like the feeling when you get good, clean data that supports your hypothesis from a client.

Sadly, that almost never happens.

No, there was nothing mock about it. By the way, given this is SF, it's worth noting that the dudes were very well dressed in dark suits, white shirts, and conservative ties. Everyone looked very professional. Those students have a bright future ahead of them.

I have an exam next Saturday...which is a huge inconvenience. I work Saturdays, and I work roughly 75 miles from campus, so I will have to divide my work into two sections. Here is the kicker: I have heard that this professor has never actually given a final in this particular class in 3-4 years; further, his T.A. was willing to bet me $250 that there would not be an exam. Apparently, everyone shows up and is immediately dismissed. That would be awesome if I lived right on campus; however, such is not the case...

I met with the professor last week, explained my situation to him, and stressed how great of a waste this would amount to if there is no exam. I also asked if I could take the exam either before or after the scheduled time: I did not sign up for a Saturday class--why the fuck is the exam on a Saturday? No, that was out of the question, and he "sincerely" said the exam was going to actually happen.

To further add to this, a mini-marathon is taking place around campus next Saturday, and vehicular access to campus will not resume until 4:00 PM--my exam is at 2:00...so it looks like I'll have to take a hike...

I'm just pissed that I will likely waste 4 hours or so for no reason at all, but only to entertain a fuckhead, and this means I will not get done with my work until 10PM or so. I thought liberals were supposed to get a hard-on from just the thought of a sledge hammer wielding, hard-working, sweaty longshoreman? Or is that only for unemployed union workers?

Was the Saturday exam date on the syllabus when you registered for the class? If not, I'd complain to the department head.

Right, I think you should have kept it quiet. The prof. Is likely to actually give an exam now that you went out of your way to call him out on it. If I were in his shoes and someone whined like that I would make sure to put together a grueling exam and also let the class know that they're the first ones in 4 years to take it.

Likely he is actually supposed to be giving exams, so calling him out on it makes it known that everyone knows. Also, telling the dept. head is like begging for the exam for the reason previously mentioned. He will draw one conclusion from it and that will be that the prof. has not given a final in 4 years, and he certainly better start.

Why?--so let me get this straight, you believe it is permissible conduct for a professor to lie to his students? I'm not quite sure how I was "whining"--I explained my situation and asked an honest question. I would rather not waste 4 fucking hours for a joke. The reality is, some students do not live right on campus, and some students can not take time off work--I can't take the day off; for, there is no one else to cover on the weekend. Juggling 18 hrs. or class while also working 50+ hrs. a week can at times be hectic. I guess its awesome to walk from the dorm to class to find out there is not an exam--it is another story to drive 150 miles. I'm such a bitchy, spoiled college student...

If the prof. does make a really difficult exam since I "call[ed] him out on it", great--that is fine by me. I am not worried about that--I have the material mastered. Showing up to a grueling exam is preferable to showing up and being dismissed. Professor want to blame me for why he gave the exam?--well, that is fine too. I don't give a shit about such things, I am just bothered by this professor's unprofessional conduct.
