Things that are pissing you off. - Page 3020

My wife has been shopping for interview attire, after never needing to until now (science). She's been throwing a more or less literal fit about how she hates "the rules." It's driving me nuts. The rules for "conservative clothing" aren't THAT complicated or THAT restrictive. Get over it. It's not going to repress your identity to wear a boring suit for a couple hours, and if you can't feel confident without wearing fun/interesting clothes, you get to get over that to work in industry.

Business people bitch about this stuff about academics (refusing to follow the rules) and I've never seen it in her before.

what you should be doing is getting her the frumpy suit and then taking her over to the lingerie store so she can "dress it up" underneath.

I try my best to contain my rage when I'm standing in line for an ATM and the person in front of me invariably takes forever (WTF are they doing? Do they think it's a video game?). Same thing happened to me today, except when it was my turn, the lady in front of me turned around and I realized the source of the problem--she was disheveled and disoriented. And then she informed me that the machine wasn't working well for her, and she proceeded to watch me make my transaction. I considered telling her to step away while I punched in my PIN number but figured she was completely incapable of any sort of wrongdoing.

The ATM was working fine, of course.

On a semi-vacation (working in a nice place for a few weeks) and my co-worker, who is one of my really good friends, brings his wife down for the last week we're here. She isn't the most pleasant person to be around (to put it lightly). Basically acts like a 3 year old and has to get her way. Has a dream vacation with a million things planned to do that are completely not feasible. Talked non-stop about the "really local" "authentic" food she wanted to eat and some guy told her about. Orders a very basic dish, eats 3 bites of it, and stops. (demanded that we eat at this place, although I've been to this city before and know some good spots) "I'm just so full. it was so good though. I really just wanna go back to the hotel and get some sun" (it's overcast today) Grrrrrr

I could go on, but I'll refrain.

Any time I go out of my way to help anyone in any way I end up getting fucked.

The latest iteration of this trend is black paint on my APCs. It was so painful to get them to fit and now they are fucked.

Nobody ever gave you the secret code that enables Tetris mode on ATM's?

wtf? candle burned to the bottom and the holder just decided to become two pieces?

Candlelit dinners are for romance, not breakups

Well...it was cheap, but I particularly liked the shape. One side could hold a taper and if you flipped it over, it could hold a tea light.

I think what happened is I reloaded it while it was still warm so the candle melted its way to fill all of the gaps. Then when it burned down to the bottom, the wax got warm and tried to expand before melting...and there was nowhere to go since it was 100% filled.
