Things that are pissing you off. - Page 2887

My niece's birthday party is in a week, and I have been told that I am expected to be there--I truly am dreading this. I know that there will be two cakes there: just in case she changes her mind in order to avoid screaming. She is awful--last time she was present I made up four different pasta dishes and none of them were good enough: too hot, too cold, wants butter, no butter but sauce, etc., and of course, she ends up eating ice cream instead. This sounds terrible, but I don't want to go, and I do not want to be a part of this child's life at all. I don't see how she will grow up to be well adjusted--she is turning four, and her mother still breastfeeds her (and plans to for the 'foreseeable future'); further, she sleeps with her mother (because that's how the 'native Americans did it'). I no longer speak to my brother (her father) either, so that just makes things awkward as well. We no longer see eye-to-eye, and I do not feel like being lectured, degraded and laughed at by a man who clearly isn't in the position to be doing so.

Tell them you'll pay up front cash, you can usually end up paying a lot less.

Aren't there a lot of places that do this free or very cheap? I can think of a few places near my place that advertise it (at least for HIV).

Pick up the local alternative weekly or gay publication and look in the back for advertisements listing the places that do free testing.

couple local places by me,  but they're only cheap if you're under 25 or 27.

Yeah, I paid like $200-$250 for mine. I'm not paying for that shit again unless my dick falls off.

Yep, $246

hiv tests are free almost everywhere. syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia are the only ones you really need. herpes is either you have an outbreak or you don't have it. almost everyone has lip herpes anyway.

check with any low cost clinics for reduced cost testing. i just got mine done on the cheap but i'm a poor, so it'll be slightly more expensive for someone employed. also, your local county/city health department will have a division for STD testing that does them at reduced rates. NEVER go through someone like a Lab Corp or Quest directly.

by "best area in the city", is it near to fun things? or just one of those "nice" residential areas.

If it's the latter, don't do it.

Now that I buy the generic, I don't waste my money on Excedrin-branded stuff, given it's all the same.

Whaaaat! I've never ever seen Excedrin in any of the targets, CVSes, and supermarkets I frequent. That's so strange.

It's most certainly the caffeine in Excedrin that makes it work better than regular Tylenol. Acetaminophen on its own doesn't do jack shit for me, which sucks. I can literally pop pills and pills of Tylenol, bury my face in my pillow with all the lights off and try to sleep my headache off for hours, but the fucker is always still there. Gotta get dat caffeine! Sometimes I'll take two Excedrins and two Advils for a really bad headache that just won't go away.

But yeah, I've been using the generics too and they are a lot cheaper as well, to your point. I try to get generics for all OTC drugs. Generics FTW.

had a great break from work with the wife and friends last week- but gained 5 pounds from all the drinking and eating.

Five pounds doesn't sound too bad -- perfect excuse to start exercising!

But goddamn.. I'm scared of getting old and losing my speedy metabolism.

I feel for you. I have a nephew and niece who just don't know how to behave. I actually had a chat with their father about it recently, he said "yeah I don't think they really have a concept of what good behaviour is" as if this had nothing to do with him. Funny thing is the girl, who's a couple of years older, shows signs of working it out for herself (i.e. that it's nice to have consideration for others). I hope she manages to continue - I'll do what I can to help.

She is obviously a spoilt brat...

A 4 year old must not sleep with her mum all the time or still be breastfeeding..

God bless your brother to deal in the future with the little monster he did create..
