Do you think that the guy was trying to take credit for what you did or what?
Nah, sometimes we just have to produce full backup for everything that went into a report. Usually it is enough to cite the source but sometimes the steps in the middle are needed.
As some of you know, I'm in the midst of the interview process for a job. To date, I had one preliminary interview (a few weeks ago), and a second interview. The second was a big presentation, for which I spent hours preparing. They also requested a rather lengthy professional references list prior to the second interview. I got word that at least some of my references had been contacted last week, and then a phone call from the job today. I'm thinking, "cool, here comes the offer."
I was right. It was an offer. For a third interview. I don't know how I'm going to manage to make it, given it's a three-hour round trip to each interview, and it has to be done during business hours. I've already taken 1.5 days off of work to make the other interviews, and I'd have to take anther half day to do this one. I really want this job, and I've gotten nothing but compliments along the way from them, so I feel pretty good about it. Still, this is getting ridiculous. It seems a little excessive to me to expect a working professional to make three interviews work. I have to call them back after five today and let them know when I can be there, and I have no idea how I'll manage to fit in another appointment.
My company is somewhat notorious for subjecting candidates to many rounds of interviews - the average is around 7 or 8 and I've heard of people going through more than a dozen rounds.
Anyway, good luck!

Yeah, my last company made me go through four rounds of interviews, it seemed like overkill by the end. Fortunately both jobs were in the same city, so it way much easier to take off an hour or two of work at a time than multiple days to make all of the interviews.

That seems like a total dick move. Just curious, what's the point? Weed out maneuver or are there legitimately 7, 8, or 12 groups of people that need to interview you?

Fuck if I know. The Senior VP of HR described it as a broken process, after telling us she'd gone through 19 rounds of interviews over 6 months.
