my wife is having a valentines day lunch with her friends.

she's had this lunch with the same friends (mostly single women who might not have a date that day/today) for the last 3 years.
the 2nd year of this lunch I baked them all cupcakes as a nice gesture. I baked 6 of them, then packed it up for my wife. I got facebook messages/texts and even a couple calls of gratitude.
this year I made cupcakes again, but now the number of cupcakes is a fucking dozen and each of them has to be earmarked to a specific person.
I baked them anyway and my wife starts complaining about its going to be difficult to schlep them on the L train, and I start laughing because it was her who asked for a dozen to be baked the day before and it almost turns into a totally ridiculous spousal 1st world problem quarrel.
you do something nice but it gets wrapped up in this pseudo-holiday which is a lose lose situation.
