My students' logic exams are looking pretty brutal. It takes longer to grade when they get everything wrong because I need to write what the answers should have been.

Sad event at work today. At about 10am, amid relative silence, our secretary started shrieking and sobbing. All I heard was, "ON THE BOAT? NO! NO!" before we all ran to the front of the office to see what was going on. Her son's mother-in-law was on a cruise and apparently just dropped dead. The woman and our office mgr. were close friends. Couldn't help but feel powerless as she just sat there sobbing. Great coworker too...works hard, very responsive, helped me get settled into the position.

Just made my Monday that much crappier.

That's awful. Sorry to hear that, Conne.

Well...I did not attend my evening class so that I would be able to do an urgent job. I was told to be there at 18:30; I get there, and they are not ready for me...why the fuck was I dispatched to get there at 18:30, when I wouldn't be able to the job done until 23:00 if not later? I missed class and drove 150 miles total for no reason, the job wasn't even urgent. I still get paid, but damn.

Well, the wife woke up this morning feeling super nauseous, and over the weekend it seemed like the little man was snottier than he had been, which makes me wonder if he's caught a new cold. Thing is, I CANNOT get sick this week, either. Actually if I got sick today, it would be okay, but being sick on Friday would be a catastrophe. Now I'm going to spend all week worrying I'll pick something up from them, and I feel like I'm on borrowed time since I didn't catch anything last week (even though I know they're independent events).

move out. check in hotel. preferably one with a heated pool.

The ability to preserve foods through canning foods is one of the fundamental success factors behind the quality of human life on this planet, and we can do amazing things with computers and iPhones and everything else, but we can no longer make a can opener that works successfully for an extended period of time.

I gave up on cheap Chinese made can openers and bough a much pricier wmf can opener years ago and its been pretty solid.
