Its not like you live in Hoffman Estates, IL...

It is small town, but it's not a Piob planned community. Fro realz, a NAPA, a grocery store, and 5 bars in walking distance. I'll pm my address.

Within walking distance of the houses I snipped an aerial shot of? An interstate highway (in the backyard).

Seriously...that's it.

Of course I would never live there or suggest anyone live there or in any of the mcmansions nearby. I have met someone who grew up there and their friends, and they are all boring people.

Thanks, guys.. I just checked my ticket again and I was wrong -- I got tagged for 73 in a 50, or 23 over.. which is pretty egregious (God's honest truth, I was trying to pass this slow piece of shit and the moment I merged into the left lane to pass him, a cop was there and tagged me within 1 second of changing lanes.. ffffuuuu.gif).

I already got a ticket last October for 70 in a 60 and I did that stupid defensive driving course to not get it on my record, so that option is unavailable this time around.

I've read up on an option called deferred adjudication where essentially you admit guilt to the ticket and pay all the fines, as well as a surcharge of around $50 bucks, and the ticket won't show up on your record if you don't get pulled over again in X days (typically 90, I think).

My one concern is that granting DA is solely up to the judge's discretion, and is typically reserved for more minor infractions, like 5-10 over.. I got tagged with 23 over..

Would it be worth my time to get an attorney for this?

Honest, given recent discussions in another thread, I promise I'm not chuckling you are once again in trouble for driving at an unsafe speed.

"Unsafe" is debatable, me thinks.

I love my little slice of paradise. In fact, I hate leaving it.

50% over the posted limit? As my wife is a senior PM in transportation engineering I've learned a few things over the years and I know speed limits tend to be set for safety reasons related to not only the road but its environs and the likelihood of people pulling onto it and into traffic. Odds are good this was an unsafe move on your part as this was clearly not a case of flooring it a bit on an empty road (you were passing a person).

True. Not going to deny and say my speeding wasn't reckless, but given the conditions I was in, I didn't deem my temporary speeding as terribly unsafe. Besides, how many times have people driven 70 in a 55 or whatnot and been fine? Just lamenting that I got caught. Such is life.

Anyway, filing my taxes right now and it looks like I'm going to owe several hundred dollars... ffffuuuu.gif

Just getting screwed left and right but the gubment -- sounds about right!

Feeling for you, brah.

I'm going to be very happy with my return this year and really glad some of the moves I made happened last year vs. this with that worry Obama is going to get deductions capped at 50k.

Jealous.

Wanna spot me on what I owe?

I'd be happy to owe several hundred mad.gif

Froggy, It's probably the only way you'll learn. Took me approx 4K in tickets and losing my license for 3 months before I got the hint. I hope you'll learn quicker.

Speeding, although satisfying, is just not worth it.
