You looked very different than your Facebook pictures. I didn't realize you bore such a striking resemblance to a haggard 50+-year-old woman. Or were you the equally haggard dude who was driving?

No clue why they would have done it. My only guess is that they thought my brake lights were taillights. It was that time of morning where you don't need your lights on, but people who have been on the road for a bit might still have them on. Given I'd just gotten on the road, I didn't need my lights, and I'm wondering if they assumed I had my lights on when I didn't, leading them to believe the lights they saw when I was braking were taillights, not brake lights. Also, this was after a curve where traffic has a tendency to pile up with a lot of hard braking, and they had come fairly close to rear ending me just before they told me my lights were out, so they may well have been paying so little attention that they'd confuse brake/taillights.
So, basically, my guess is "the people who told me the lights are out are idiots who don't pay nearly enough attention when they're driving."
