A) Despite the hassle dealing with different sizing conventions has caused me, I admit the pain is a bit mitigated by the degree to which the existence of "standard," and the associated nomenclature, chaps Fang's ass.
B) I with you on Craftsman, Harv. I've been doing a bit of shopping at the Harbor Freight near my house, and it's great for items I won't need often (or in critical situations). But for quality, warranty, and price, Craftsman can't be beat. Most of the work I've done recently has been done with a tool kit I bought in high school 15+ years ago. I've had to add here and there, but I've never had to pay to replace anything in that set, and I've only seldom had to take advantage of the warranty.

It's horrible. And it's made worse by the fact that all of the aftermarket stuff I put on used different sizes from the OEM bolts. So, it was basically:
A) Blind guess on standard or metric (assuming it's not a torx)
B) Take the stuff apart
C) Find yet another size socket/wrench to put it all back together.
