I do not believe that I have cried in years, and I've cried like a g-d damn baby the past two days. I never want to lose my freedom again; I never want to experience what I experienced again. I feel as though I am in a bad dream, and I can not wake up--I haven't slept since Thursday night, and I haven't eaten since Friday--I am tired and hungry, but I can not hold food down, and I can not sleep. I just keep reliving the actions, playing the scenes again and again in my head. I just keep asking--who the fuck am I? Who have I become? In this sense, perhaps what happened will ultimately benefit myself in the long run--that is, the reflections I've been forced to ask upon myself have left me realizing what in life is truly important. I have been selfish--I have been arrogant, and now I am paying for it.
My apologies for the rant, and do not ask for specifics as I will not state them.

Hope things get better Bis.

I hope you're not posting from jail or something (no snark)

I am at my house--I was in a jail for about 18 or so hours. It was the worst experience of my life; the floors were wet and moldy, no water, etc. It was about as cold inside as the temperature outside.

I wished there were computers in jail. I was not even allowed to get numbers off my cell phone to call anyone; who memorizes numbers anymore? I don't even know my parent's number off the top of my head.

They had a yellow pages; I had no choice but to call my employer--my contract has been terminated. I will not be able to work in my industry now, as my employer is the only game in town--I hope maybe they will take me back on a contingent arrangement, as finding someone to fill my spot will take ~3 months.

So, so sorry to hear this.

Shit, is there any way you can get your job back?

Does your employer know what you were arrested for?

Do you intend on fighting the termination? If it is a misdemeanor, it may be wrongful termination. I think there is a lawyer somewhere on this forum that posts regularly. Harvey something or another. His opinion is probably worth asking for.

you have to catch him when he's sober, though

If you're working under contract, then the grounds for termination would be in the contract. You would have to look there. If it's at-will employment, then they don't really need a reason. The only time they would even need to give you a reason is if you could establish some evidence that they fired you for an illegal reason; i.e. discrimination, filing a worker's comp claim, whistleblowing (in some states), etc.

biscoti,

sorry to hear about your bad luck. all I can tell you is that people recover and move on. I would seriously think about a plan - give yourself a certain amount of time to rest and get over the pain, then get back on the horse and try to figure out a way going forward. don't let yourself drop into a long period of hopelessness.

good luck

Obviously, this pales in comparison to some of the things people have posted lately. But it's pissing me off that I have to wait another month for my beer to finish. Seems like the home brewing process should be way faster by now.
