Gomestar etc. has a point carrots and other roots are cheap and healthy, I have pretty much subbed everything I used to use potatoes for with beetroots, carrots, parsnip etc. and I haven't eaten pizza in years and the last time I had one, I didn't like it, the same goes for all fatty foods.
My mother and my aunt grew up in the same household, but they and their families have totally different approaches to thing f.x. I grew up in a single parent household, but we always eat healthy and did stuff outside (the same did my grandparents). My aunt, her husband and kids on the other hand lives of deep fried food straight out the freezer, even though my aunt is retired and her husband makes a good living, also they have 3 cars and they are very overweight, so it's not an issue regarding social status, education etc. it's a matter of will.
I have watched a bunch of programs about shamu sized people, who have to get cut out of their houses to go to feeding clinics and 99 out of a 100 fail, because they want their big macs and their cola and don't "like" lettuce and walking is beneath them.
Walking doesn't cost you anything, so they can be to poor to walk, just lazy.
I have been wondering this for years, I know it's not directly comparable, but there is always commercials on tv for african children who can't get food and go to school and I always wonder, why are you having kids, if you can't feed them?
