Maybe it's just me but I actually quite like getting my shoes dirty (not scuffed or damaged) simply because I have the chance to sit down with some brushes and bring them back to perfect condition. It's like washing a really dirty car or putting a ball-gag on a really dirty girl.

I haven't kept up in MC lately, but I have to say I hadn't pegged you as the kind of guy who'd wear loafers like that.

I thought you could control your bowel movements.

I guess I think of penny loafers as representing a kind of relaxed, comfortable-in-your-own-skin casualness that seems a bit at odds with GF's online personality. I don't mean that in any way as an insult, of course, just a description from my limited point of view.

Driving shoes might be more like it.

FWIW, I've never owned a pair of penny loafers in my life. Or driving shoes for that matter. So maybe my perspective is skewed.

This would not make the "things that are pissing me off" thread.

How dirty the girl in question?

edit, and those look like salt stains...what would they salt the roads for in dallas?

They do, but there are a lot of ghettos in Dallas too. Our boss' party was actually way far away but we all went out afterwards to Uptown. No matter how ritzy a neighborhood in Dallas is, any ghetto is literally a stone's throw away. I actually had my keys protruding through my knuckles when I was walking through the ghettos.. just in case.

These are my travel shoes as it's much easier to slip these on and off when I go through security. I mainly wear laced cap toes but I like to bust these out for casual parties/dinners and especially when I'm expecting inclement weather, so as not to fuck up my leather soled shoes.

Not insulted at all. I actually thought about this the other day and I guess I'll be honest and say I'm not pleased with how I come off online, but damn, a lotta haters online. My offline persona is way more relaxed and easy going and as long as the forum members I think are cool/I respect don't actively dislike me, I'm happy. There are posters who would without a doubt make me question my online behavior, if you will, if they called me out.

For example, JayJay called me out a while ago in the cars we drive thread and it was perfectly valid. I felt pretty shitty afterwards and actually stopped posting in that thread (out of guilt I guess) for at least a month or two. But when the 'others' call me out? I'm like, lol, YOU?! Bitch, please.

I never wear penny loafers (or any loafers, unless you count monks) because I don't see myself as having the kind of relaxed, comfortable-in-your-own-skin vibe that penny loafers seem to call for.
I mean, I can see how you associate penny loafers with that kind of vibe, but it's such a ubiquitous type of shoe and to limit yourself from wearing them because you don't think you give off that specific vibe, I think, is a bit unfortunate (i.e, you're missing out!).

If you simply don't like the style or look of them, fine -- personal preferences.

Yeah, I don't really like them anyway!

Any time a penny loafer might be appropriate, I'd go for a monk strap, which I like so much better.

Ha, I'm glad you mentioned monk straps as I'm actually planning on switching to those now instead of wearing my loafers. These can become my beaters, I guess.

Do you have single or double monks?

Both. My beaters are a pair of Ferragamo monks--single. Those are my airport shoes too, because they are so easy to take off. But I really love double monks. (I only have one pair of double monks, though: AE Mora.)
