My problem is being dealt with by the useless IT guy.
I couldn't upload to an FTP server. I cringed when he picked up the IT phone but hoped he would just pass the problem off to someone else. He plays around with it a bit and decides it is working fine because he is able to upload a file. Except all he is doing is creating a file with a filesize of zero...not actually uploading anything (which is what I said was happening to me when I called).
He can't figure out why that is happening so instead he is just going to make a new FTP for me to use (same account name with a 1 on the end).
He tells me he made it, but I can't log in. It keeps rejecting my login info (as the error clearly states) but he makes me restart my computer anyways. Sure enough, still doesn't work. Then I figure out he made a typo in the username. instead of being XXXX1, he made it as XyXX1. Now I can log in.
Except when I try to log in it now tells me there is not enough space and I can't upload my file! (this is a permissions issue, there is actually plenty of space) . The whole reason I need this is to send 100mb of stuff to a client who wanted it ASAP this morning.
I'm not even sure why this guy is doing this--it seems like his core responsibility in the IT department is being the guy who unplugs all your stuff, puts it on a cart, and makes sure it works when it gets moved to your new desk.
And now I think he has gone to lunch.
