Apparently the girl broke her arm in the next day's race though...I'd feel bad if its her mom or something on the receiving end of my complaint (even though I just reminded them that it was not ok to use photos for those purposes without permission, said I would have certainly given my permission if asked, and requested that they credit the photo in the post).
That's really bad. Does the charity have a website and official email, or better telephone #? Don't say "you would certainly have said yes". Wait for their response. It's very unprofessional. Providing it for free for charity is great, but they can't just take it for granted. Also, they could write you a donation receipt (the money you could charge them for the picture) which you in turn can use to deduct from your taxes.. at least that's what -- simplified -- can work in Germany.
