Things that are pissing you off. - Page 2549

People who have that dementor like quality that means they can speak to you for 3 minutes at the start of the day and despite not saying anything particularly nasty or negative still completely drain you of the hope and optimism you had for that day and completely ruining it despite who else is there and whatever happens.

Monday night, and this has already been a trying week. And miles to go.......

...spent all Sunday priming and prepping for a chalkboard wall we're doing in our kitchen, and the freaking magnetic primer just plain didn't work. Have to put a second coat on the finish coat around midnight or 1am tonight, after letting the first coat dry. But it has to be done tonight, to allow three days dry time before use because we're going to need it for Friday...

...when we're hosting my little bro's rehearsal dinner here at my house. So the wife is deep cleaning everywhere, pissed at me because some things, admittedly, are messy on my account, and she's just generally peeved any time she has to scrub sinks and showers and toilets.

Really under the gun to get shopped, prepped, cleaned, and food prepared for this thing. Just thinking about all the work and prep and trying to make it all happen elegantly on the day of without requiring my full time in the kitchen during the dinner is stressing me out already.

And some of the deets on the festivities are changing on me. People being added to the list, kids being added, now there is an actual rehearsal for me to go to, when I specifically asked that months ago before agreeing to host, 2 hours before everyone shows up on my doorstep wanting to eat. This started out as a casual thing for about a dozen, now it's 20+, with a rehearsal... argh.

Had to flake on a philanthropic commitment tonight as a result.

Will have to flake on my usual tennis on Thursday, my last shred of physical fitness.

Work is freaking slammed. One huge dickhead customer, not a big deal really, but just had a really unpleasant, very unusual encounter with someone on the phone right at a bad moment today.

Got a call from a dude who is absolutely certifiable and wants us to invest in his lunatic project, which I will turn down, but for a number of bizarre geographical/social reasons coupled with his lunacy, this is not going to go away any time soon. This is a fellow who my folks have had to call the cops on because he shows up in a manic state, walks into their house, and refuses to leave while babbling on.

So much work to do. Ugh.

And we're out of wine, well, at least, out of drinkable not-saving-it-for-some-reason wine.

Not to mention I'm not looking forward to tomorrow's election. Fucking trash doesn't pick up tomorrow because it's a fucking City holiday. WTF? We're voting for our government services on a day when they won't even do them?

no it was all muscle haha. I was very much into lifting in college and so I would eat to feed the muscles and now I just eat when im hungry and sometimes even then I dont because im cheap. I eat peanut butter sandwiches for lunch for crying out loud and there is barely any peanut butter on it. I make a little 8-12 oz jar last like a month.

I spent 25 dollars at the grocery store today and thats a lot for me...I go to shaws on sundays for lunch snacks and some basic staples and trader joes during the week for a few dinners and veggies. I try to keep it under 50 unless I see my gf and we go out to dinner then all bets are off.

I feel you.  Losing muscle that you've already gained is infuriating.

Something that makes me shake my head: when guys (and girls) tuck their jeans into their really crappy boots, to show off said crappy footwear, and then walk around like

Our society has been brainwashed into thinking there has to be so much cheese on pizza. I have to scrape off the excess cheese every time, which is a bunch of crud. (Maybe I have been drinking a little bit of port, but that does not make my complaint invalid.)

Haha, I was at a wedding in rural China where the dad of either the groom or bride actually pulled out his phone and answered a callin the middle of the wedding. Now, keep in mind that he sat right next to the couple on a small stage for everyone to see. Although considering that tshirt and shorts seem to be acceptable wedding guest attire, that was not too surprising. I was the only one who actually wore a suit, but plenty of track suits, yoga pants. And generally very casual attire. Although given the fact that it was a summer wedding, the hotpants and miniskirts dominated among women.

I would recommend a potato with caramelised onions rosemary and chilli with gorgonzola pizza or are you eating a reheated frozen one?

And change from port to pino noir goes down much better with pizza.

I don't know, Geoffrey, that doesn't sound very tasty to me. Maybe without the gorgonzola. (There is no cheese that actually tastes good, but gorgonzola is about as bad as anything I've tried. Sorry to all the cheese lovers, but a fact's a fact.)

Also, I would never change from vinho do porto to pinot noir under any circumstances. Maybe I am just a simple man, but I love my port.

EDIT: As cheese goes, Provel is pretty good. But I know that no connoisseur of cheese would allow me to say that without punching me in the visage. (That is why I say it online.)

Philistine!

What about rocket and goats with parma ham? And a solid South Australian Shiraz to wash it down?
I'm not even going to lie, I had to google "rocket and goats." Even after googling it, though, I don't really understand what it is. And so I'm going to guess that I do not like it. I have never had South Australian shiraz either. It looks like I am quite the ignoramus about these issues.

EDIT: It often happens that Genevieve goes into the garbage and eats the cheese I scraped off the pizza. This produces very bad results that I have to deal with. Another reason to hold a grudge against cheese.

Rocket is also know as arugula in your country and goats, oh the joy of goats cheese is a wonder to the palate. Hard goats soft goats camembert brie or some fine blue goats yes the world would be a better place if more people indulged in the joy of goat cheese. And tonight I am cooking some simple char grilled asparagus with goat cheese haloumi and aubergine stacks with a mixed green salad with a Victorian pino noir and seeing its only $2 at the video store tonight maybe Prometheus out.

The world would not be a better place if I indulged in the joy of goat cheese because it would make me sick. (Unless that would be to the net benefit of the world. I doubt it, though.) But that just means there's more goat cheese for you. Things have a way of working out, I guess.
