Perhaps I just have higher standards than the average Forum participant, but Outback and Olive Garden do not count as fine dining in my book. If you are seeking out a truly first-rate dining experience, you can do no better than Quaker Steak and Lube. (I'd say Golden Corral is just a hair short of first-rate, although their introduction of the cotton candy machine might just put them into that category. I have to think about it more.)

Haven't been to either, but based on pictures I wouldn't call either fine dining.

I too am surprised at their lack of inclusion on the NYC Michelin Star update thread.

My brother has a "surprise" interview for tomorrow and we only have tonight to secure a suit for it. I don't think he'd fit into any of mine (he's slightly taller/longer armed) and he only has $300 to spend...this is going to be tricksy. Going to raid TJ Maxx (saw some SF approved stuff in there recently) and some other discount places... At least I get to spend some time with my bro and do some shopping.

Had my 1.5 month old Galaxy S3 cell phone sitting in the cupholder of the golf cart I was driving, hit a bump, the phone slides out of the bottom of the cupholder (hard to explain), goes underneath the cart, lands face down and I run over with the rear tire. This all transpired in about .00025 of a second. Cracked the hell out of the screen, but the phone still works properly.

Hmm, I just confirmed that the chicago is also blessed with not having an olive garden within the city.

There is a cheesecake factory on Michigan ave. though...

I broke my Iphone 3g's screen by throwing it against a brick wall. There's replacement parts available online and I was able to fix it, relatively easily.

Of course then I gave it to a stripper while in a drunken stupor a few month's later but que sera sera.

Lol. I drive by a Quaker Steak and Lube and a Golden Corral on a weekly basis. I have never once been tempted to stop.

did you know that the bloomin' onion, a true outback original, "is hand-carved by a dedicated bloomologist"?

does per se, heston blumenthal, 11 madison and le cheatubriand have dedicated bloomologists in their kitchens? I don't think so.

That's just the kind of kick-ass attention to detail that sets the greats apart. It's the kind of restaurant where they just "Git R Dun!"

Apologies for my post tonight, because I make the same post once per year. It looks like once again KISS has not been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I don't even know why I care about this anymore because the institution has clearly shown itself to be unworthy of being taken seriously by anyone. No nomination for KISS, but I'll be damned if the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and the Marvelettes didn't get nominations this year. Good Lord Almighty.

I woke up this morning dizzy as hell, it's always nice to lie in your bed feeling like you are going to fall over.

I don't understand why there are these big corporate chains in NYC. With so many good, private food establishments places like these don't even feel like options to me. Who are these people who go to them? Makes no sense.

Aren't you supposed to get that done when you're like 17?
