I'm sure I shared the story of when Genevieve got me banned from a cat forum by logging onto my account and insulting the other posters for talking about cats on the Internet. (She called them gay, which to her was an insult. I thought that was odd, given the circumstances.) Man, they were pissed off! They didn't think I was intellectually responsible then.

I've got a 3/3 teaching load (three classes in fall and three in spring). If I were at a more prestigious research university, I'd have a lighter load, but alas. Tenure track jobs are very hard to come by in my field, so I'm grateful for what I have.
My voice made it through all three classes, but barely. (Or "barley," as my students would write it.)

Early in my career a veteran line worker shared the following pearl of wisdom, which has become part of my life philosophy: "Always shit on company time."

This is the most concise summation of union members and clock watchers I have read. Bravo, sir.

Simply by their toilet habits you can tell a persons propensity to prefer collective bargaining over chancing the whim of a more powerfully placed employer? Damn you are a wise and powerful overlord.

FML. I'm apparently having dinner at an Outback steakhouse. I feel like the word steak should be in quotes. Fuck I hate the vagracies of business travel.

I remember back in high school I went to an Outback with this girl and her parents.

The parents were fat as fuck, and they ordered a 'bloomin' onion' for us all to share, which was slathered in some sort of tangy cream sauce. They ate two of these things and were wiping their creamy fingers on their pants. They gorged their faces, and in my mind I taught to myself how fat this girl is going to be in ten years. I excused myself and had a cigarette in solitude.

I hope you enjoy your night out on the town. At least Outback does not have a 'chocolate waterfall'.

Piob, where are you, in the boondocks? Fortunately my business travel usually results in great food. Just got back from a trip and am several pounds heavier due to the plethora of food and drink.

Before I read your post, I was going to advise Piob to try to change the plan to Golden Corral, where at least he could enjoy the Chocolate Wonderfall. But then you savagely attacked the aforementioned wonderfall. I will respond to that attack with a rhetorical question: if it weren't wonderful, why would they call it the wonderfall?

I can not stand people using 'totes'.

Like, "I totes have to study today!!!!!" "Totes the hottest place in town!!!!"

Plenty of fine places around. This was arranged through a nonprofit where I sit on the board. They have salads and wine. I will survive.
