My thinking is that they don't foster "productivity" and "interaction". I have been in them before and they only make people awkward, paranoid, and constantly making eyes at each other. Complete opposite of what they are intended to do.
I hate having customer calls from my desk. Bad enough that there's no privacy, but I sit close to a guy who wears a hearing aid and doesn't have an "inside voice", and my customers can hear him in the background. When I'm setting up a demo I have to wear a massive pair of closed headphones to give me at least a small chance of being able to concentrate.
I have to hear "Gangnam Style" 4-6 times a day, without exception. This pisses me off. In addition, I generally see or hear Psy's "U+ Style" commercial for LG U+ 3-4 times a week. This pisses me off.
