I would make fun of you but I watched every episode of She-Ra, over and over again, for years.

That's twice within the last half-hour that you've had me running to Google. Somehow I missed She-Ra. (It looks like She-Ra and Strawberry Shortcake were very different programs.)

so now i waste a whole day fixing his fucking mess, and i'm sure i'll still take some blame for "starting" the mess in the first place. i am definitely holding a grudge on this one, to be repaid at the best possible time.

Just about an hour ago, I had to scramble to solve a problem caused by one of my colleagues backing out of an obligation at the very last minute. (He did not check his schedule before he took on the obligation, and just now realized he had a conflict.) There was no way for me to solve the problem except by sending out an e-mail to all my colleagues. But I wrote the e-mail in a way that did not call out the guy who made the mistake, even indirectly. It's just basic collegiality. (Of course our cases are different, because the guy in my case really did mess up.)

Can't speak for Conne, but many people would rather be the front half of the costume.

yeah, i think that he would appreciate what you did for him and how you handled it.

actually that's what's so infuriating about what happened to me - i try not to put anyone on the spot so when i first saw the error i took him and his team aside and privately told them why what they wanted to do won't work. if they had any fucking sense they would have taken credit for identifying the problem and say something like "we were doing our due diligence and found something that wasn't caught the first time, and we're fixing it", which is what i expected them to do - i don't need any credit and they can save face and appear like they are conscientious about doing their jobs...instead they fucking start causing a stir about how i'm an impediment to what we're trying to do mad.gif

If I had, I'd've thought that I needed to specify to my friends who are lobbyists (met them when I was a lobbyist, several years ago, none of whom lobby for anything involving my agency) that they can't give me gifts. I also would've tried to keep the items registered to less than $100 (the value of gifts that I can receive from anyone without having to report it).
Now, I've checked the registry and we've got three dozen $100+ gifts and four sizeable gifts from lobbyists that I now have to write checks, out-of-pocket, to reimburse them for the value of the gifts. Which is great, because I'm so flush with cash right now.

So lazy, now screwed. It gets better.

If I was one of your lobbyist friends I'd take your cheque but not cash it.

ご結婚おめでとうございます

I'm thinking of becoming a minor player in Bronycon. That wouldn't make me "a total fuckin' freak," would it? You have to be a major player to be really freaky, right?
EDIT: I should add that when I was a youngster, I was quite a fan of Strawberry Shortcake. (I don't mean the food, but rather the cartoon character.)

New Strawberry Shortcake or old Strawberry Shortcake? It makes a difference not to your level of freakness but to your mode of freakness.

Definitely the old one. There was also a cereal based on Strawberry Shortcake. It was called Strawberry Shortcake. Man oh man did I enjoy that cereal.

Wait a minute, how do you even know about the new Strawberry Shortcake?

although the idea of going to a bar and have 4 beers before dinner, have dinner across the street, then come back for another bottle plus 4 shots of scotch sounded like a good idea last night, I don't think I should try that again.

^^ Is there an annual Strawberry Shortcake conference? It sounds like you'd know if there was. Maybe if it comes to STL you could visit.
