A little background--- I am attorney in a mid-sized manhattan law firm.
The following is from my new associate that they hired -- without my input. She had temped here for six months and missed more days sick than I have had off (vaca or otherwise) in the last two years. One of the partners here made sure to cut me out of the process, as he knew my contempt for her. He thought he could "teach her." She has been hear nearly 8 mos and still cannot prepare the most basic of legal documents without significant revisions. He still insists she can learn.

Is she attractive? I'm guessing the partner is teaching her how to "pierce the corporate veil."

laugh.gif the best part is they dont even realize thats is what they are doing. they think they have a legitimate reason for missing work.

Reminds me of someone I "know" who conveniently gets sick on Mondays and Fridays all the time.

People at my company have been fired for stuff like that. Also, my father decided to change his paydays to Mondays at his company.

There was a Dilbert where the boss was all outraged that 40% of sick days were taken on Monday or Friday. happy.gif

Douglas, I'm sorry to hear this and hope the dogs pull through. I've been there and it sucks. I've buried two of ours this year (15 years and 14 years) and it's hard.

I am pretty sure I broke/pulled out a filling.

I've got a regular dentist appointment on 9/14 but this is rapidly getting worse and I am not sure I am going to be able to make it that long.

Douglas, I'm wishing the best for all your dogs, particularly the two that are in the hospital. I can't imagine the pain of having two ill at the same time, and suspecting that two more might be affected. Hope it all turns out well.

we have two sets of bosses due to a merger from a couple of years ago. Our office is midwest, our corporate is east coast. They are pretty brutal, not what us soft midwesterns are used to. We started with three guys on my side, and my east coast boss ran one of them out last year, and now the other one just quit/fired for the same reason. I get along ok with the guy because I am not afraid to stand up to him (which these guys seem to like, (I should make an east coast boss thread). Problem is now I have to pick this guys work up which was a nightmare when I had to do it last year for the other guy. Plus, now I have the longest tenure of anyone in the department which is fucked up since I have only been here 2.5 years.

It's good to know there are treatments. Wishing the best for them.
