Got family problems of my own.

My cousin, who is a few years younger than me got married earlier this summer. Oh, he also just had his baby last week. Do the math...

So its basically been bullshit since the birth. His mother, my "aunt", wasn't able to see the baby for several days because his new MIL is... well she's kind of overbearing from what I've gathered. Apparently my aunt was all in tears because she couldn't see her goddamn grandson because the MIL made her stay down there. She is getting to see her new grandson later this week, IIRC.

That's part of the ish, and it gets worse.

My uncle was saying to FIL that hey, money's tight so they could move home, my cousin could finish up at the university that is down the road from where they live. FIL says, that's a good idea so five days after the birth, they are going to move from where he currently goes to school in the middle of the state (A really good school btw, more on that later) and move with the in laws to a small town several hours away and go to a different school that's 90 minutes away. Clearly a less desirable situation than before but hey, his wife wanted it (which means MIL probably wanted it) so its being done!

Now, he was at a really good school on full scholarship for his sport. His wife doesn't like him travelling so he had to drop that despite having (IIRC 2 more years until graduation and 2 seasons of eligibility). Dude was the team's best player in a high-profile sport for a really good team. So he stopped. Now he's going to have to come up with tuition. Oh and she doesn't like him being gone for his sport, well wtf is going to happen when he spends 3 fucking hours travelling every day for school? I will refrain from predicting what happens because my predictions with that shit are never wrong.

Ugh, its a giant fucking mess. So many stupid and catastrophically short-sighted decisions being made.

Got a B in calculus, so damn tired when I took it, building was so hot... I know excuses, excuses. Oh well, I can settle on a B; I was worried there for a moment that I just completely failed the damn thing...I was expecting an F for the final, so I guess I didn't do as bad as I thought.

Working on a take home exam due midnight July 4. Trudging through a bunch of economic articles so I can outline my answers to 3 questions. Can't fucking wait till I'm done.

Sorry to hear it Piob, I hope your brother recovers, or at least avoids any serious pain. Any shot at a clinical trial?

Sorry for your troubles Piob. Hope your brother has some luck with the treatment here in the states.

I think avoiding serious pain and maximizing quality time is the goal. He's a dead man walking. No clinical trials...he lives in Canada. We've been working some treatment in the US that has so far given him some very good years added to the prognosis and I hope to help him get another five good years. That's my sort of mental goal, five more good years for him.

Douglas, glad you got the dog to the vet in time, I hope he makes a full and complete recovery.

Just had a shitty ass plane ride back from richmond. Flight was delayed, on one of my least favorite planes, and a majority of the seats were taken by what I imagine were 12-14 year olds with maybe 2 chaperones....and then we had to sit on the tarmac for a long time waiting for our gate to open up when we landed.

Kids were fucking singing songs, one kid was raising and slamming down his two armrests like drums to his headpnoes (which made vibrations I could feel in my seat from across the aisle and up a row), and the girls behind me were freaked out and couldn't figure out why the plane was flying over water on its approach to chicago and nobody within earshot knew why either (they briefly thought it might be the great lakes but then realized that that wasn't possible).
Thank god I always fly with earplugs which at least numbs the sound.

Then I had a fricking scary cab ride home. Super old dude was driving down I90 in between two lanes and had no clue even when somebody was laying on the horn at him and on several other occasions was drifting in and out of lanes. Twice during the $30 ride, he took a pill out of a prescription bottle...
I had to call 311 and report him but I felt pretty bad about it. He was one of the few independent cabbies in the city, mentioned that he had just bought this new vehicle, and seemed like a nice old man. But still, it had to be done as he probably shouldn't be driving any vehicle, let alone doing it professionally. At least as an owner-operated, if they at some point tell him he can't drive anymore, the last few taxi medallions sold in the city went for $325k+ which has got to be a lot of appreciation over whatever he paid for it...so he will do alright there.
