It is a safer suicide option than barbiturates..

10 times as many people die falling down stairs, should we wear helmets on the stairs, take the elevator wait no what about heart disease?

And don't walk around London, it's a far safer suicide option.

BTW I'm cycling to work and I don't wear one ...

To be honest , I must really wear one but I don't want to look a dickhead more than I already do..

Just like seatbelts and airbags, sure they can cause and exacerbate certain things, but they prevent more problems than they cause by a long shot.

Uninformed consensus.

Your second point is also uninformed nonsense. The data for seatbelts, airbags, and motorcycle helmets clearly favours their use, with bike helmets it's actually the opposite. In all jurisdictions with mandatory helmet laws where reliable statistics are available fatalities have increased or remained stable after the introduction of the law. Helmets are either useless or a hazard.

Also people die and are seriously injured all the time doing normal every day activities, should they all wear helmets? Should we wear helmets in the shower? It’s ludicrous. Pointing out isolated incidents where people are injured does not negate the fact that cycling is a very safe activity and Styrofoam hats are stupid.

I don't think you could look any more like a dickhead! biggrin.gif

Seriously though lots of people wear them so you won't look like a dickhead. I wear one on group rides A: because it shuts up the helmet nazis and B: one of my rides is sponsored and it's mandatory.

Helmets mess up hair. Perfect reason for not wearing one, imo. Then again I don't have to support anybody except myself.

Fang I'm very interested in seeing all these studies that show helmets aren't good for you.

I need to gain at least 2 kilos because apparently I'm too skinny. Attention all fatties, how about giving your old pal Neo some tips on gaining weight.

I've just been given the green light by my surgeon to be able to leave, but now that I can, I'm having a fucking panic attack thinking about it! I'm fucking freaking out!
