I wanted to do something, and he "vetoed" me. so I raised the subject with our boss, who agreed with me. now he has to do it, and it turns out that a lot of other people think that it is a great idea. anyway, that happened, and I have been out of the office for a month.

so I get back in the office today, and have a meeting with him, and he tries to tear me a new asshole over something silly. so I say, in front of his team, several times "it seems that there is something going on that I am not aware of. do you need to tell me something? do you not want to do this porject? should I just assume that you are canceling this?" anyway, pissed me off. one of his team told me that I came out on top, by a long way, but I felt really weird about it, and I was really pissed off that I hadn't been prepared - I knew that I pissed him off and hadn't been around for a while, he has been stewing.

I have been dealing with a similar situation for around 6 months. I recommend to patch it up quickly....I let things stew for too long and the rift expanded.

Oy. Didn't realize you had legal woes in addition to the health woes. Hope things take a turn for the better soon.

Father pissed me off the other day too. Wouldn't let me use his villa in Tuscany. I mean, he's not going to be there, so why shouldn't I have access to it?

So I empathize, NAMOR.

we do a huge industry trade show in a relatively small city in germany every 2 years. i gather it is by far the biggest commercial event this beautiful city hosts - it is, frankly, probably too big a show for the city to handle. hotels are sold out months in advance, and many people end up having to stay 20-40 minutes drive away. It's not the end of the world, but this is a great old city and it's a nice perk to be able to stay in town and walk around the streets at night. so we usually make our hotel reservations for the next show as we check out - a full 2 years in advance.

i got this e-mail the other day:
Quote:
I contact you regarding the booking for the [REDACTED] 2011.

At the moment our hotel is closed due to complete re-construction and re-building. Last week we got the information that the hotel will not be finished in time. So our re-opening is now planned for 15th November 2011. Unfortunately your booking is also affected and there are no more rooms in [REDACTED] available in this period. I am very sorry about this situation and this circumstances for you.

Please let me know as soon as possible if you need any help or if you try to find something else.

We have blocked some rooms in [REDACTED] (4* hotels). It is round-about 35 minutes by car from the fair ground.

For any further information please do not hesitate to contact us.

So now I'm scrambling to find rooms. I may have a line into something but it's through a broker and I am halfway scared I'm being scammed.

Also, why are people so fucking noncommittal and flakey? I'm co-hosting an awesome event this weekend and I've extended some invitations to people and they're all like "yeah, maybe we'll come by, we'll try to be there, etc." I get it if this were just a BBQ or something but this is a pretty spectacular cultural event, catered etc. I mean I understand if you can't come or don't want to but it's rude to give the "whatever" treatment. I'm just going through the same thing with my wedding - my fiancee had to have a third and final clarifying convo with her cousin to determine how many were going to be in her party. Is the planning flexibility afforded by the cell phone affecting our manners?

fuck, I hate that Douglas. I used to do a show in Hannover that required an hour commute from an apartment every day. fucking trade shows. good luck. (btw, what city?)

this beurocrat from the state office for export assistance asked to meet me today, about 2 months ago. honestly, there is nothing that he can do for me, I actually laughed when he suggested that he could help me find distributors, but I agreed to meet him. so, anyway, I am in the fucking office today waiting for him. he doens't show up. I call his office and he is "out of town" for the week. fuck him.

Would you prefer a firm answer like, "No, I won't be able to show up."? Do they have to give you a reason?
