It's winter everywhere within a 3000-mile radius of where you live.

Wegmans has some pretty good hydroponically grown 'maters.

so, is 72 Dr. Seuss pencils enough, or should I get the big 144-pack as well. I already have the 72, but Amazon is tempting me.

No such thing.

Tomatoes must endure their going hence even as their coming hither. Ripeness is all.

(Too bad they're such soft fruit. Tomatoes should be picked when they're ready to fall from the plant (which they do easily), but this makes harvesting difficult and increases loss so even the ones picked 'ripe' are picked as soon as they turn red. Tomatoes are really only ripe about at least a week or so after that point, depending on the variety.)

And that's true too.

Today is ****, and has been literally since the moment I woke up.

First, my alarm has decided that it no longer needs to actually make a noise when it goes off. I can tell it's going off because it lights up and such, but no noise comes out. Hence, I overslept today.

Second, we have a big new software release coming next week that we have very little time to test before deploying, so I am probably going to be pulling I-banker hours for the next couple of weeks.

Third, one of the key people we need for this testing will likely have to leave town (for a family emergency, which I obviously can't be mad at--I'm just mad at the situation and how everything is piling up on this one timespan). So my hours will be even worse because it will basically be me and one very junior person able to do the testing.

Fourth, there is some training for work that is on a product that I'd really, really like to get more familiar with, that I will not be able to attend because of said software release. It's double bad because this training is a big opportunity for me to mark myself as one of the firm experts in this area that I've been looking to get into. This will now go to someone else.

All said, it's a ******, ****** day and I've only been awake for 30 minutes so far.

Today is serving as one big, fat reminder of why I'm searching for a new job. Our assistant director, my former immediate supervisor, called a meeting for yesterday afternoon at 2:30. The meeting was to include said assistant director, my current supervisor, and me, and we were to discuss information for a meeting at 9:00 tomorrow we all have with an external department. As of right now, 10:00 the morning following the planned 2:30 meeting, we still have not met, and it's entirely because my assistant director has a habit of scheduling meetings and deciding randomly not to show. He has been doing it as long as I've been here, and before he promoted, so it's not even like he's just overwhelmed by his new position. This time, he didn't even tell us he wasn't going to make it until over an hour after it was set to begin. He hasn't mentioned it this morning, so I have no way of knowing when/if we're going to meet.

It's ******* ridiculous, and this type of **** is just a microcosm of the dysfunction in this place. This type of stuff happens all the time, and it really kills our work quality and morale. We all end up stressed and short on time due to the fact that this experienced "manager" can't get his **** straight.

I love when I have good ideas (for a change) and everyone of them gets shot down at a meeting.

Oh well. I haven't gotten fired yet (the streak continues!) so there's that...

I hate even more that the reason a good change is shot down is largely due to fear of rocking the boat (aka politics).
