Watching Mad Men while I workout lately. Fuck, I would have ruled in the corporate world of Madison Avenue.

Edit: "Why," you ask? Because drinking throughout the work day is why.

Yeah. I can do white liquor. But the brown would have put me on the couch

Yes, but I'd be $100k richer, which I would use to retire at 30 and live on 17 cents a day.

Nope. I got a mere 1/week cleaner to help the wife but her car should be a big "problem" along with every other car as well as mine. I like rules that are enforced consistently and equally. That's all. And yeah the 2garage folks do have more of the services parking. But I'm not jelly. Good for them. Just don't be a fucking hypocrite.

I guess if it were 23:00-07:00, I wouldn't care, but is that what you're doing? You get home at 23:00 and leave eight hours later?
No I don't. What I'm trying to point out here that it's a bunch of dogwalking or evening stroll dickheads who want to see the foliage *perfectly* in the evenings. I'm a dogwalker. It's marginally nicer to not see parked cars. Overall? Who fucking cares. Get a life.

You think having cars in the street in front of every house doesn't impact values?
This is interesting. You may be on to something. I'd need a lot more data. Certainly endless cars from 8am-7pm isn't a calculation here though.

You realize that you don't own the street in front of the house, right? It's common area, not your property to do with as you see fit.

Uhh yeah I do realize that, of course. I basically said a much before since I want to get the car as far on to the property as possible, possibly entirely. But the general vibe in most hoods is most common usage. If you haaaad to stick a car anywhere, would you put it in front of your own place or one of your neighbors?

It's not a matter of "handle."
I think it is. Some homes have shittier setups for two cars. Being a kind understanding neighbor would mean you just accept that. "Instead let's form a posse so we can all be insufferable pricks together. Ta-ta." If I ever become like this just shoot me.

I'm driving home the other day, and a kid loses his ball in the street and runs out in front of me. I stopped easily because I saw him from far away. Obstruct that view with a Honda Odyssey and neither of us see as well. I'm not saying it'll be a bloodbath in the streets, but it adds a degree of risk simply for the sake of you not having to move cars around because you didn't get the big garage. It's an obstruction in the road in a place where people are moving in and out constantly.
All valid. I should go take a pic so you can fully understand how unproblematic this spot is.

Yes, these people bought homes in a community of like-minded people and want to make sure the biggest investment in their lives is protected from people with no skin in the game, and they expect you to play by the rules of the place with which you voluntarily associate. What a bunch of assholes!

Congratulations on being the reason people hate renters.

"I don't have anything invested in this neighborhood, so fuck the people who do."

Yeah I'm just a renter. But I don't throw wild parties or wreck the place. I'd counter here that shit really hits the fan when an owner starts a monster reno. Lawsuits. Etc. Renters are mere tourists for a hood, long-term.

And "voluntarily associate with"? I didn't sign nada. No guidelines. Nothing. As far as I understand it's private property signed over on a legal agreement for full usage by me with all attendant rights and privileges.

"Community of like-minded people". Right. In the future I'm going to steer clear of such groups. Bow to the group or else. "Parking your car out front? Better check with the neighborhood gauleiter! He walks his dog past your place and you do *not* want to upset him."

funny to think that if you have residency or ownership it's a whole to-do...

but if it's a public street and some random dude decides to park his RV i don't think the HOA has a leg to stand on. "what agreement?!" lol

I like this SirReveller persona. I like how he keeps calm and acknowledges other people's points without throwing a hissy fit. Good job whoever's sock he is

He does the needful.

I bought new kitchen appliances, and I got a call last week that they could deliver them on Monday (today) which is two days earlier than originally scheduled.  They told me they would call again on Friday to confirm my delivery time, which they did.  Today, I got a call from the delivery company "you didn't schedule your delivery out far enough, so we can't deliver until Thursday now."

The big reason I'm upset is they won't disconnect the old appliances, so last night I removed all my appliances and now they're sitting around for removal, so I don't have use of my kitchen for an extra three days.

Cold and chilly af this morning. Damn this summer blew by.

It's great living on a private road. If some random RV managed to get through the gate we'd just charge them with trespassing and have the RV impounded.

Odd situation going on in the Piob house. Mrs. Piob, who's 10 months in to her one year probation with the new government job gig, is being offered a promotion to the bottom rung of upper management. It's pretty unheard of to be bumped to this level while still under probation but I'm trying to talk her out of it. They hired her in at the top pay grade, so the raise will be minimal, but of course it comes with the increased hours and responsibility one would expect. Trying to convince her to pass on it and wait for something better to come along. She's obviously impressed folks so I'm sure a better chance will come along within the year.

Just odd to talk someone out of a promotion like this.

You mean in the private sector? I don't know if it's a good idea to pass on a promotion if she wants to stay in the government.

Is she capped out, or is there potential for a grade increase along with the promotion?

Promotions can be a weird beast in government. My boss got promoted last year (into a spot basically nobody else wanted). He was already capped out on salary, so he basically doubled his responsibilities and got a lot less attractive job duties in exchange for a new title.
