I don't need advice. I just like typing about myself.

Chronic parking on the street, especially overnight? Nope. GTFO out of the road.

Having a bunch of cars in the street constantly looks like shit, and it's unsafe.

This, to me, is the ideal for an HOA. You don't want a bunch of little fascists running around measuring grass with a ruler, but it's nice to have the tools necessary to keep the neighborhood up to a certain standard.

I want an HOA like from Malcolm in the Middle.  No one does anything or attends meetings, then I can come in and spend $100k how I want.

I like parking on the street. It forces the assholes driving 50+ mph through the neighborhood to swerve or slow down. I think there are several others who feel the same, which is why probably 40% of folks park on the street, despite a plethora of two car garages and wide driveways.

Do not go into a woman unless you are both clear about what happens afterwards. Even then, it can get very complicated.

So what does she say when you make it clear that there will be mechanical failure, tears and self pity afterward?

The overnight is kinda dumb to me. 7-11pm when people strolling, dog walking? Sure. It looks marginally nicer. IMO not a big difference but yeah, nicer. However 11-7am? You really care? Also pure double standard. HOA peeps with two car garages holding their nose at people with two cars and one garage and/or driveway constraints. Oh yeah. Real neighborly. Then the nannies and maids and gardeners - services these fuckers obv want - oh them? They get a pass 8am-7pm. Oh OK. Hypocrites to boot.

HOA getting the rusted Camaro off the neighborhood idiot's lawn 'cuz it's impacting market values? Of course. It has its purposes. Little improvement initiatives and cookouts. No prob. But where I come from you don't harass anyone if their car's in front of their house. Fuck that. And "unsafe"? Lol. Cmon. Doing 90mph around the hood is unsafe. How unsafe is a stinkin (properly) parked car? If you can't handle that I honestly suggest moving to the country.

Anyway I'm gonna trim the hedges and get this thing so wedged up it's literally off common use roadway. These fossilized fucks with their horseshit aesthetics agenda (a personal preference smokescreened behind "community" and "safety") will just have to deal. I'll happily offer for them to rent a spare spot of my neighbor's for me and I can park the car there. So dumb. Little fascists indeed. Fuck them.

This was basically the last place I lived (where we rented). It did not result in a particularly nice environment.

"I want to slow them down by forcing them to swerve and drive on the wrong side of the road while other cars make blind exits from driveways" doesn't make much sense to me, given you're trading one dangerous behavior for three (and that assumes all of these things actually slow them down).

There are better ways to calm traffic than making your streets an obstacle course.

I am with you on being infuriated by people who speed through neighborhoods. Our last house was in a neighborhood where they clear cut and graded before building, leaving streets that were long and straight, and people just blew down them. I've noticed it's much less of a problem where we are now, where they didn't flatten everything and the streets wind a bit with the topography. Still, having small kids and the experience we did in the last place made me super grateful we ended up on a cul-de-sac this time around.

We don't really have many walkers or kids running around, and a lack of trees eliminates the blind entries into the street. So fuck the idiots that think a block long straightaway is an invitation to try and reach escape velocity. Dude who lives across the street from me parks his F150 on the street every day. I try to make sure I park my car directly across from his truck, effectively bottlenecking the street to a single car width. I'm cool with the potential for other problems to cut down on that one.

My neighbor puts her own cones in the street so her kids can ride their bikes. This is equally annoying.

So this is basically about the fact that other people in the neighborhood have nicer shit than you?

I guess if it were 23:00-07:00, I wouldn't care, but is that what you're doing? You get home at 23:00 and leave eight hours later?

You think having cars in the street in front of every house doesn't impact values?

You realize that you don't own the street in front of the house, right? It's common area, not your property to do with as you see fit.

It's not a matter of "handle."

I'm driving home the other day, and a kid loses his ball in the street and runs out in front of me. I stopped easily because I saw him from far away. Obstruct that view with a Honda Odyssey and neither of us see as well. I'm not saying it'll be a bloodbath in the streets, but it adds a degree of risk simply for the sake of you not having to move cars around because you didn't get the big garage. It's an obstruction in the road in a place where people are moving in and out constantly.

Yes, these people bought homes in a community of like-minded people and want to make sure the biggest investment in their lives is protected from people with no skin in the game, and they expect you to play by the rules of the place with which you voluntarily associate. What a bunch of assholes!

Congratulations on being the reason people hate renters.

"I don't have anything invested in this neighborhood, so fuck the people who do."

Yeah. That's stupid, too.
