Things That Are Bothering You, Got You All Hibbeldy-Jibbeldy, or just downright pissed, RIGHT NOW! - Page 5639

500 sq ft is not what these are. Besides, 500 is not just reasonable but also fairly common in large metro areas. These tiny houses are usually less than 200 sq ft. with airplane lavatory bathrooms, loft beds sitting above kitchenettes that look like a hot plate + mini fridge, and all this stupid shit.

My wife loves watching that show, and I can't stand it.  When I was looking at a job in downtown Chicago, she thought it would be neat to get a studio/small one-bedroom apartment (500ish sq ft).  I said "Woman, I'm on styleforum, I need 500 sq ft for all my clothes."

If closets are counted the floor space of our master suite is probably 1-1.1k sq feet.

The other one that is silly but slightly better is the show where people want to live off the grid and get a house in some isolated area of Alaska. I get wanting to live off the grid and catching/hunting your own food but why in the hell would you want to have to use an outhouse in 10 below zero weather? The one luxury I could never give up is a warm, comfortable, well lit, bathroom. There is nothing in the heavily populated cities that would want me to go somewhere where I have to take a rifle to the bathroom due to wildlife.

The Rams are confirming the truth of the old saying "You can take the Rams out of St. Louis but you can't take the being-a-crappy-football-team out of the Rams."

You can't take the Rams tax-payer obligations out of St. Louis either.

I figure I'm still paying for the team and so I might as well continue to cheer for them.

FWIW, when I talk about early retirement it's more like 20-somethings romanticizing the idea of retiring at 35-40.

As a married person who lives in ~600sf now, it is not fun, especially considering my wife works out of the apartment. She takes the living room when she's working, and I'm stuck in the bedroom (which doesn't have room for much more than the bed). The kitchen isn't really usable by 2 people at the same time without stepping all over each other. Plus, stuff gets broken a lot more often because you have to move things around to make room to do things.

If it was just me, I'd be fine with even less than this (probably because I'd be willing to use more of the space for storage), but it's really cramped for two.

Most people who actually build a tiny house say this is a nightmare. You usually have to move away from civilization, meaning every trip to the grocery store takes up 2 or 3 hours of your day, and even then there's no guarantee of privacy or safety. (I read a post about someone's mobile tiny house being stolen by meth heads.) So really, how much are you actually helping the environment, and how much are you saving vs. renting a small city apartment and either ditching your car or relying on it less?

EDIT: Here's the post from the people whose house was stolen. Should be required reading for anyone interested in them.

I still haven't heard back from my final interviews.. they said they'd get back to me "early this week" and as far as I'm concerned, the cut off for early this week is 5 PM today.

😣😣😣

Have you considered the thought that you bombed it?

Then drop it from your mind.  It is probably just HR being slow.  HR is always slow and incompetent.

Retire super early? How bout make work as fun as possible.
Also: leisure is made valuable by its scarcity.

Betimes after reading a SR post and Link post back to back, my brain changes to a state of tiredness.
