Not trying to start no contcherversy just saying my views I don't know how anyone can enjoy the sounds that are produced when a Smashing Pumpkins CD is put into the CD player and "Play" is pushed or when a Smashing Pumpkins record goes on to a record player and the needle is put on to said record etc. I mean in a lot of cases I can understand why other people might enjoy something I personally don't enjoy, but with Smashing Pumpkins I can't even get that far. Billy Corgan's awful voice is the main obstacle for me, but not the only one.

Pumpkins is weird for me. I wasn't a fan in the 90s ("Bullet with Butterfly Wings" was the only song I really liked), but my position has become more favorable over time.

The grunge hierarchy is:

1. AIC

2. Everyone Else

Edit: Or more accurately:

1a. Electric AIC
1b. Acoustic AIC

2. Everyone Else

Was a fan of that AIC Unplugged. It was otherworldly to watch a corpse sing.

AiC is clearly the best of the bunch like not even close. I'd rather listen to Layne Staley than any other vocalist in that genre, including Chris Cornell. Obviously Cornell has an amazing voice, but I don't enjoy hearing it for more than a couple songs.

I was cheap so I dubbed my friends older brother's AIC jar of flies CD over a TDK tape.

only I forgot that I had NWA Straight outta Comtpon dubbed onto the tape so whenever I listened to Jar of Flies there was random FUCK THE POLICE and whatnot playing softly in the background.

Since the Smashing Pumpkins were mentioned, I immediately was reminded of this:

I like Nirvana but saying Nirvana is #1 Grunge Band is like saying Metallica is #1 Heavy Metal Band. You need that ideological purity and it just ain't (isn't) there with the aforementioned musical groups.

My caffeine consumption has always been a roller coaster and I think I'm at the point where I need to quit again.

Does anyone else remember that uncomfortable period where Tommy Lee tried to become relevant again in the late 90s/early 00s and went sort of grunge/numetal?
