How'd you know ☺️

This should probly go in Things You Don't Get but it's rebelent here. It's only quite recently that I purchased a bed. For years I just slep on the floor. And for pillow all I need is one that is flexible enough to fold in half to where I can put my head on it. I don't get why people are so picky about beds and pillows be like "If it ain't exactly my Sleep Number I am put to condition of wrestless can't even get 20 winks say nothing about 40!"

My sleep number is 69

People who can't be bothered to re-rack their weights on their designated spots. Lazy, selfish fucks.

Too heavy for you to pick up?

Fair point. I've always been big on knowing lyrics, but I forget that not everyone takes it as seriously as I do. MrsG is like that. Some of her "interpretations" of song lyrics are pretty laugh.gif.

Unfortunately I guess this turned out to be the right thread for this story. We got to the place where the board was supposed to be held, waited an hour, only to be told that we had been double booked and that the board had all already left. Apparently there was some miscommunication between the Eagle coordinators for the district. So we've been rescheduled for the 9th of August. My son actually was very gracious about it and didn't get upset at all. I was pretty ticked, but couldn't really do anything.

From what I saw of the board as they interacted with the other young man there for his Eagle, I'm actually kind of glad that my son didn't go before them--the lead guy, in particular, seemed like kind of a dick. He was one of those guys who kept making jokes about failing the scout and consoling the family when the scout got rejected (he didn't, of course). So perhaps the silver lining here is that my son will actually go before a board headed by a guy I know who is kind and supportive and positive and not into making jokes at scouts' expense.

Best of luck to Son-of-Vader on the next attempt.

Our boards only have 1 rep from the district and they are usually fairly passive.  The first board I was on the kid couldnt make it through the scout oath.  Soo nervous.  I talked to him afterwards and told him to relax and get some time in public speaking wise as he is going to need it the rest of his life.

On my board for Eagle, one of the dads showed up with a rope and wanted to me tie all sorts of knots.  I shut him up after I rolled my eyes and did a one handed bowline behind my back (in b4 joak)  Sometimes people make 5 minutes so serious.  How bout the 5 years beforehand to gauge whether or not someone deserves something?

Thanks, guys. biggrin.gif

I had never seen this guy before and I was a little put off by his whole demeanor. I have sat through dozens of Eagle BORs over the years and I have never seen one where the scout got what I would have considered a grilling. Usually it's more of a victory lap--talk about how fun scouts was, talk about a few particular favorite experiences, walk through the Eagle project, talk about how now the scout can focus on high adventure and mentoring younger scouts, aaaaaaand shake hands and congratulations. So I'm sort of relieved that my son can have that experience (the guy who promised to do his BOR runs exactly that kind of board, as I've seen many times).

I always get a kick out of hearing this, all you have to do is walk over to wherever they are but people make it sound like a big deal. At my gym half of the dbs are sprawled on the floor and you can never find two that match.

It's frustrating when I have dumbbells in both hands that I'm trying to re-rack but some asshole put his on "my spot" as opposed to his spot two steps to the side.

I can either rack my weight in the wrong spot too but then it just fucks it up even more for everyone. I just end up dropping my weights and fixing their shit and put mine back where they belong.

Frustrating when you're re-racking after a finished set and you're exhausted already.

It's sheer laziness and inconsiderate.

Conversation with Diderik just now:

Diderik: We're gonna give that stomatitis a whoopin' I just know it!!!
Me: Yup we're gonna keep on giving you that cyclosporine medicine every day!
Diderik: Uhh, mmm, you know maybe I could just learn to live with that stomatitis.
