My son actually goes in for his Eagle board of review tomorrow night. So we're pretty excited for that to happen. We've got two other boys who are right behind him (one just finished his Eagle project; the other just has a project and maybe two merit badges to go).

Do you still need to believe in a god to make Eagle Scout?

Congrats! You know the board is just a formality. He's basically already got it.

I dont think I've ever asked/been asked this before. It is implied. How many teenage boys though come to question the existence of god these days? Most are too busy with sports, cell phones, video games, etc.

The Scout Oath says "I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country" so I suppose it's built in. I have never heard of a board of review asking a scout whether he believes in God.

Yep! Thanks! I've sat in on dozens of BORs over the years so I know the drill. I've only ever heard of one BOR where the boy didn't get his Eagle, but that was because he copped an attitude and told the board that he hated scouts and his parents forced him to do it. No Eagle for that kid.

Anyway: this is the totally wrong thread for this discussion, since I'm actually quite happy about my son getting his Eagle.

Did he buy it at a store or trap it? What's the Eagle's name?

Has anyone else here bothered to read the lyrics to Master of Puppets and contemplate what a great song about drug addiction it is?

Pre-chorus:

Taste me you will see
More is all you need
You’re dedicated to
How I’m killing you

ITT: Piob has a revelation the rest of us had during our high school headbanger phase.

Most people don't read lyrics. As a lifelong Rush fan I've always read the lyrics.

Piob goes through his headbanger phase whenever he knocks his noggin against the glory hoal board.

I was just shy of my Eagle Scout.  I basically did it in the minimum required time (I met all the requirements for the next rank in the minimum time in rank period).  I didn't finish my Eagle basically out of spite to my dad.

I never finished my Eagle because we moved just as I turned 14 and I lost a bunch of my blue cards and other information. Lame excuse, I know--I actually got all the way to where I just needed my Eagle project but I never finished it. I regret that quite a bit. I often use myself as an example of tripping at the finish line when I'm talking to my scouts. So having my son get his Eagle will help me feel a bit better about that.

When people talk about Hollywood Vampires Supergroup they often fail to mention Robert DeLeo on the electric bass guitar which is basically a bunch of crap.

Okay so USPS tried to play a trick on me sorry but I'm not falling for it. Just saw on USPS Tracking "USPS tried to deliver your packeldge at 6:40 PM but was unable we han left a notice." I'm basically like "Bullshit 6:40 PM is when you *realized* you failed to deliver the package you ain't out there delivering no mail at 6:40 gimme a damn break!" Also there was no notice.

I live in a condo so I get 'attempted delivery' shit posted all the time even though they never buzz our place and I even give them the access code so they can come in.
