My second guess was James Carville in a black wig. But I guess I was wrong.

The terrible thing about the ongoing erosion of traditionally rigid social conventions and taboos around sex-specific public bathrooms is that I'm going to end up having to wait much longer to pee at rock concerts and sporting events as women realize it's stupid to stand in a bathroom line that's five times as long as the other one.

Ha!

My freshman year of college, I lived on a coed floor in the dormitories with a coed communal bathroom. The bathroom layout was like this:

A female friend told me that for the first few days you could tell the guys were all a bit uncomfortable peeing in the urinals with girls walking past them or brushing their teeth at the sinks behind them - an unusual number of guys would use the stalls, and the ones who used the urinals stood up very straight and close to the urinals. After about a week, however, she said that the familiarity of habit had won out and guys would be much more relaxed at the urinals, would chat with the girls while peeing, etc. Then we all went home for Thanksgiving, got used to private bathrooms again, and were uptight and bashful again for the first couple of days back.

My mom told me her freshman dorm was originally a male dorm and they changed it to female that year, so the communal restrooms all still had urinals. One of the girls thought they were hair washing stations if you didn't want to take a full shower, and tried to use it that way at least once.

Is this where I make a "your mom" joke?

The dorm building I was in definitely had started its life as an all-male dorm. Of the 8 (I think) floors, six were coed when I was there, one was all male, and one was all female. I can recall at least one female resident of my floor (there obviously may have been others, male or female) who would always go downstairs to use the bathroom.

Was she some kind of expert in how guys pee at urinals? That trend, actually, is documented just with other men. I remember it discussed in some stupid sociology/psychology class I took.
