Jeffrey Steingarten wrote a really long article (like, absurdly long.... it may have been his longest Vanity Fair article) about french fries. It was in his first book and I remember after like 17 pages of it going "I wonder how much more there is?" About 30 pages. I went to the next essay.
On a much different note, a friend of mine I hung out with a lot my first two years of college killed himself over the weekend. I knew he had really awful depression as long as I'd known him but I don't what caused it. He was a bit older than me and well loved by all his many friends.
