Things That Are Bothering You, Got You All Hibbeldy-Jibbeldy, or just downright pissed, RIGHT NOW! - Page 5446

Doesn't mean false, just means they floated the idea, everyone hated it, they shut it down

Don't fight it, brah. It is a-okay to be wrong.

The very idea of it is just idiotic, and it's indicative of everything that's wrong with millennials and the way our society treats them.

"These kids are a bunch of entitled assholes who think the whole world should accommodate them. Hey! I have an idea! Instead of expecting them to adhere to a very simple rule of etiquette everyone else in the world has no trouble following, let's just let them ruin everyone else's experience so these precious snowflakes aren't momentarily inconvenienced!"

You should take your own advice here.

I've found that there are as many 40-50 year old motherfuckers who text or check their phone in a theater as there are millenials who do this.

Actually, check that - I can't remember seeing a millenial do this. It's either some inconsiderate middle aged fucktard or some dumb 12 year old kid

the bigger point is that cinemas are hurting, year over year ticket sales are decreasing and they feel compelled to try to craft an experience that caters to *a* younger demographic. sooner or later generations shuffle out of the target demographic. why wouldn't a business be interested in staying solvent and continuing as a going concern?

i once went to a baseball game where we showed up in like the 5th inning and i didn't see one pitch of the game. we sat in the bleachers and bullshitted and drank beer. who cares? does it diminish the experience of some dude behind me if i'm not filling out a scorecard?

this really doesn't have anything to do with millenials per se. it has to do with a flailing industry trying to compete with a cornucopia of entertainment options. what's so funny is that where i live they've refurbed a whole bunch of golden age theaters after 30+ years of disuse. it looks like those are all about to mothballed again, i'd guess sooner rather than later.

A place in my town has created an interesting cinema experience. It's big comfy seating, with side tables, and you can order food prior to the movie starting and then it's brought in to you. They also do "family nights," "adult only" night with booze waited to your seat, etc.

Not sure how they're doing.

We have that in LA, they have seats that super recline, are extra padded, and they serve legit meals, have beer, wine etc

@double00, you're right about baseball, that's fine, because that doesn't detract from other people watching and enjoying the game. Being on your phone actively detracts from the experience for others - it's different

Someone constantly checking their phone is infuriating, pulls you out of the movie every time the dumb thing lights up.

That's the best part of the theaters with the big seats, you can't see other people. If they want to fuck around on their phones, it actually doesn't matter.

i wonder if the big seats insulate the best parts of the communal theater experience. i actually really like going to big premieres - an energetic audience, etc.

at my local place they do about 40 minutes of talent shows, a magician comes out, they have a fucking THEME SONG for movie nights. it's a pretty legit warmup for the blockbusters.

The 45 minutes of trailers aren't enough of a warm up?

We have a couple places here like that.  You can even reserve a seat online.  Tickets are like $30/person.

Not bothering me, but the local symphony here that has been showing movies as a live pit orchestra.  Awesome!

So far they've done Home Alone and they are about to do The Godfather.

For you Flordians who like to eat 'Local food'

More bad news from the world of women's basketball looks like ten out of twelve players on the Loyola University of Chicago squad have transferred or asked to be released from their scholarships apparently women's basketball legend and coach Sheryl Swoopes has not been acting in a good way toward the players. If this kind of thing keeps going on, women's basketball will never achieve equality with our nation's favorite sports such as NFL football or NHL hockey.

i got through a bit of that article before i ejected.

imo restaurants sell an experience, not food. i think you could probably write the same article but substitute "basic food handling hygiene" for "local provenance" and you'd be just as accurate.

i've always been sort of fascinated by the kind of person who aspires to open a restaurant/bar.
