The term 'artisan'

Meaning 'why I'm charging 30% more than anyone with comparable items'.

While I was away at work my cats got on my computer created a "chat bot" named Kee-Tay said all sorts of racist words to the Internet.

I saw my dad in a wheelchair for the first time the other day. I knew he's needed one a few times recentlyish and due to Parkinson's he's had increasing mobility issues (I'd mentioned I found out he'd been seeing a neurologist but never posted the results and anyway that's it). I also wonder how much of his problems are entirely self-inflicted. His diet is fucking abysmal at best, he does not exercise to the point he's always hated walking. To be honest, I think that is what upsets me the most. I've told him I'd like him around for a while, he's late 60s and neither of his folks hit 70 so, you know... maybe you should be a little careful? But the damage is probably done now even if he switched to an all water, all grilled chicken/steamed veggies diet.

This guy I knew who was close to my friends when I ran in previous social circles died on Saturday. He was only a few months older than me. I wasn't the biggest fan for many reasons but a lot of my friends really loved him and I can see why. He was gregarious and was once described to me as Holden Caufield-esque which was incredibly apt. Anyway, he was diagnosed with congenital heart disease last year. He switched up his lifestyle but that change ended recently. I always thought he was going to do himself in and I suppose I was right.

Organic artisanal goods made in Brooklyn or Portland = license to print money.

Yup, meant to include that this is totally my fault for not having pre-check. Keep putting it off for some reason...need to get on that.

Dat precheck worked well at the SLC airport today. Line running out of the security area and down the hallway... Walked right up to the precheck ID checker, didn't wait for a single person.

In Chicago, I find the precheck line still always has a couple rows of people waiting.

Truly sorry to hear that Ed.

Sorry to hear about your dad, Ed. I'm actually going through something similar with my own dad right now. I just got back from visiting him in the hospital in Utah. He had to be admitted because he was having trouble breathing. It turns out that he had congestive heart failure (on top of his diabetes and kidney issues). Like your dad, he has taken terrible care of himself for many years and from what I can tell most of his health issues are due to poor diet and no exercise. We're headed out there again in a few weeks to pick my daughter up from college and I hope he's still around then. At this point he really seems like he's just waiting to die.

This seems to be a common theme.  Sorry to hear about your dads Ed and Dave.  My mom has the same lingering issues.  Overweight, knee problems, Congestive heart failure.  Myself and fellow siblings have had to resort to threats of no visits from grandkids in order for her to get back to good health.  Its an ongoing struggle.  I feel for you guys.

Edit:  at least the example has caused me to freak out whenever I gain a little weight.  I will not be like my parents and their ways.

Lack of sleep all weekend finally caught up to me and I ended up taking a 3.5 hour nap after work today.

Missed dinner. Missed the gym. And most importantly, looks like I'm fucked for getting normal sleep tonight. Fucked up sleep schedule continues!
