Yet more health insurance problems. My wife got a referral for a consult with another orthopedic surgeon. That hospital couldn't verify our insurance before the appointment (probably because my insurance company processed a payment without applying it to my account, so it looked/looks like I'm past due). I thought we had it straightened out, but considering how quickly the bill came, I don't think they even submitted it to insurance. $305 for a 15 minute consult. Nothing but sitting in an office, looking at already-paid-for CTs and x-rays, and talking.
I now have to waste more hours of my life listening to my insurance company's hold music. This is my health insurance company
, ladies and gentleman:
"HealthSpan lost $116 million in the first nine months of 2015."
And of course the following is a fucking joke, because every specialist my wife or I have seen is leaving:
“Best-case scenario, the only change people see is the signage in front of the building,” HealthSpan spokesman Chuck Heald said.
The plan I'm sure was to keep on the PCPs so they can say, "you can see the same doctor!" with a straight face, and ditch everybody else.
This is after the rate jacked marketplace plans (didn't want to switch because of my wife's ongoing care) before announcing that they were shutting down the healthcare branch. Cannot wait till I can run away from this plan and provider.
