$800 for a speeding ticket? We're you doing 20 over in a school zone that is also a construction zone?

Or do you GA residents just have insane rates?

Small, rural county + a GA-specific Super Speeder fine.

I had a speeding ticket a few years ago, they originally tried to charge ~$650, I got it down to $110

Yeah the coutny is a couple hours away so I could go down and challenge it on my court date. There's also a good chance it'll be scheduled for when I'm travelling a bunch so there's that, too.

Dang.  The last speeding ticket I got was for $110 to start with.

$800 speeding tickets. What is with these damn southern states? Is Trump going to do anything about this??!

You get $800 fine for doing 30% over in a motorway roadworks zone here.

Yeah, but we already know that you guys are nuts. We're talking about the Land of the Free here

Wouldn't you be crazy, if Trump wanted to nuke you.

I got a 2nd notice for a parking ticket in NYC way back in December. The thing is, i never got a fucking 1st notice, plus the 2nd notice was forwarded from my CT address here so its over 100 days old (I can't contest it online, I have to officially send it in through mail).

Its not edinafail level price wise [about $150 with penalties], but I hate that I know it'll be so much easier to just pay this than fight it.

One of the things I'm noticing in my practice is that the USPS totally sucks (and has gotten noticeably suckier in the last 10 years or so). We get mail for people addresed to people on the other side of the country sometimes (like three or four times a week, easy). If that's happening to them, I can only imagine how many times it has happened to us. I know of at least a couple of times when we haven't received notices from our local courts regarding matters we're working on. So far it hasn't caused us any significant problems, but I'm starting to wonder whether it's fair anymore for the court to assume that something was received in due course if it's put in the mail.

In Texass I got a letter in the mail asking for $2.03 after going through an automatic toll booth in Austin. Being a smartass, I included a check for $2.01. Sure enough a few weeks later I got hit with another letter demanding more money, this time with a late penalty fee added. We drove through that toll booth in a new car that didn't have plates yet, still not sure how they found me.

IL never found me for doing the same thing, thankfully.  I imagine next time I cross the IL border,  I'll be swarmed by state troopers.

I made the drive from Texas to Mass when I moved 2 years ago and I remember not having enough change for one toll. I told the person as such and they said that was fine. That id get a bill in the mail.

Well, I never did and now I'm scared it's been floating out there somewhere with massive late penalties accruing on it. It happened to my dad a long time ago and it finally made it to him. What started off as a 25 cent toll or what not accumulated to a massive thousand dollar fine after so many years.

Ugh. Such bullshit. I'm already pissed off at something that hasn't even happened (yet).
