I helped intervene on a friend almost a year ago to the day who would go through a 1.75 of vodka every other day.  He spent 16 days in detox before recovery.  He wasnt really a functioning person though before that.

I'm having trouble processing how a human can drink a case of any kind of alcohol each day, myself. Clearly a troubled individual and I'm sorry to hear of it

I feel like this should be article in The Onion. The level of idiocy of these people can't possibly be real.

I love the guy who made his parents title their house to his sister to avoid getting it foreclosed. There should be some cases where it's legal to kill your children

This is almost like the last thing I would picture a bunch of drunks getting blitzed on … cute little bottles of Underberg. You do mean this correct? I've had it occasionally.

Not that surprising really. As the article said, if you were planning to move to a foreign country anyway, you could take out loans then just bail with whatever degree you got that may be useful somewhere else. Even if not, in a way it's understandable.

Yes, at 8am and at 11 the beers started flowing.

I am just at a loss for words over that article.

That article started off with promise and turned out pretty amazing. Not sure I can ever take Vice seriously now

I love the part where she steps back and says that maybe she shouldn't have gone to an expensive private school in one of the most expensive cities in the world. Then says, nah, she got the education and experience she wanted so it's cool. Then a paragraph later wonders what she could possibly have done differently with her life.

I like the one guy, who has a sister who owns the parent's house in the US now, but claims because they moved back to El Salvador, he has no connection to the US anymore.  Either they aren't close or she moved to.

My student loans have given me triple digit ROIs. I mean, no interest while in school, .75% interest now, time value of money over 30 years, and I've no doubt it was my two grad degrees (didn't borrow for undergrad) that helped me meet the modest success I have. Thanks to me being able to obtain loans I've made multiples of what I would have otherwise plus the government gets way more out of taxes from me and the economy benefits from my spending.

That's pretty much how it's supposed to work, no? confused.gif
