We had a secretary, probably mid-50s, who was just stunningly unproductive. She seriously got 25% as much work done as the better ones. Simple tasks would take weeks.

Every email she send out had at least five colors, coordinated in some way that was only apparent to her.

I get emails from someone who has a very dark blue as his standard color. It's not light enough to be obivious, but it still throws your eyes off and it takes a couple sec each time to figure out, what the fuck is going on.

Sometimes I change the colour of the content back to black before replying.

I never received a single email the entire time I worked . For many years if you needed to communicate with someone who was not on the site you had to get in a truck and drive around looking for a payphone. I think that had a lot to do with the reason I actually enjoyed my job most of the time

Maybe he's trying to alert you to intertextuality.

I'm a freelancer, and usually the way it works is an employer will write: "are you available for the following dates?" I will write back "yes I am available." Then most people will reply "great, you're hired," but sometimes I get radio silence after sending the "yes" email.

Drives me nuts. Am I hired or not? Did you lose my email? Are you away from the office? Should I turn down conflicting work if I'm offered it? How hard is it to write back with a confirmation?

The idiots that hit "Reply All" to say, "My daughter is have a potty class so I can't make the meeting" need to be summarily shot.

Outlook automatically responds to emails in some sort of dark blue...is that what you are seeing?

I also frequently change to a color like red when either a) making line edits to someone else's email draft or b) making in-line comments or answers to questions. As does pretty much everyone I am used to emailing at work.

Anyone who sends an email to a large distribution list with a high priority flag also needs to be shot.  Fuck you.

My other favorite incident was when someone took a large distribution group, and expanded into the individual names before hitting reply all.  That caused emails to be 3MB each.  When you only have a 250MB inbox limit, that fills it up quick.

I think the real problem here is not that someone expanded the names...but the fact that in 2016, you have a 250mb email inbox limit

I'd fill that in a month or less.

Well, I think it is both, but you're right.  The worst part is I work for a storage company.

I've been waking up late to put myself on Pacific time before I have to fly out this weekend, but I think I went too far.
