The wife and I used the visits as semi vacations, nahsville turned out to be a fun town. we were very vague and non commital the whole time, but by the thrid visit we saw some houses in beautiful neighborhoods and realized that moving there could be possible.
I honestly didn't mind CT, because I made a bunch of new great friends so quickly, but was also angry that we could've just as easily stayed in Brooklyn and bought a place and it would've been cheaper (and a better investment)....Fairfield county CT can be ::just as expensive as NYC
There seems to be no middle ground in Boston (we were thinking about Boston too), NYC, or Fairfield County CT.... You have to spend a ton if you want something nice with space, but then can't really save anything substantial for retirement, or you live in something tiny and can save but constantly want to move into something better anyway.
