Thanks to everyone for the kind words. Unfortunately, I got some very bad, but not entirely unexpected, news. Her kidneys are failing pretty badly and her red blood cell count is dangerously low. Also, she's been quite lethargic today and her appetite is poor. Even in the best case scenario, I don't think I'm going to have her much longer.
As some of you know, I'm sort of a weepy person. I've been doing plenty of that today.

Sorry to hear this. Did the vet offer you any treatment options?

I'm so sorry to hear this. Please give Genevieve a hug for me, and know that my thoughts are with you.

Yes, she did, but there are none available that are going to provide a long-term solution. She mentioned the possibility of a blood transfusion, for example, but that would only benefit her for a month or so. There's another medication that would cost me $750 per month, but that would not attack the root of the problem she has.

Ask the vet about sub-q IV therapy. It helped extend the life our of cat when she went into terminal kidney failure by almost a year.

Yes, that was another of the therapies she mentioned. She said that at Genevieve's stage of failure, that would help, but again only for a pretty short term--maybe two months.

Laid off from work today..."cash flow issues". Officially peasant status for awhile.

sad to hear.. hope you find a satisfying position soon.

this guy who works for me, who doesn't make a ton of money, had been scrimping and saving for years so that he could afford his dream car, a brand new V6 Camaro. he finally got it last month and he was as thrilled as a man can be. washed it every week, parked it away from other cars, I even caught him wiping it with a duster during a lunch break.
well, he comes home today to find his pride and joy up on cinder blocks and missing all four of its wheels. wheels were gone, the rear brake calipers were supporting the entire rear weight of the car and are likely ruined, and the blocks were right under the middle of the car, so we now fear that the weight of the car could have bent the frame.
some people don't deserve to be on this earth.

******* asshole shitbrain F***ers. poor dude.

sorry to hear, and hope you find comfort where you are now.

i dont know what happened with brooks brothers, but their customer service line and credit card services line were always very helpful and informed. over the past few months i have noticed that they effing suck donkey scrotum.
its almost impossible to get to a human on the credit services line, the people on both lines all seem to be of no use, and with no training or product info, and they have changed a few of their policies for the worse. really has me thinking twice about buying anything from there right now.

is he talking in an indian or filipino accent, the customer service guy?
