Just got off a call with one of the recruiters (not the initial recruiter who reached out to me, thankfully?) and it's for an Implementation Project Manager for cloud-based solutions for Fortune 500 clients. I don't have any direct implementation work experience and honestly this is work I feel people who are way more certified for would want to tackle.

Recruiter seemed impressed with my background though and said we should continue with the process. I'm kinda lukewarm though, TBH. Will be getting the job posting tonight / tomorrow, so I'll have more details. But implementation work does not sound sexy, at all. I feel like implementation work would require me to be much more technical. It's also a 6-month contract position "with the opportunity for it to become full time."

@aravenel do you have any experience here, brah?

The contract thing is the biggest red flag to me.

Project management can be good, can be shitty. Just depends. Doesn't as a rule require tons of technical knowledge, especially with the type of stuff it sounds like you'd be doing. Is more communication and herding cats. The fact that they are looking to hire a contractor for it though doesn't come off well to me. Could imply that they don't take the role seriously enough--most (or at least many) F500 companies have a dedicated project management function that hires full time project managers that jump from project to project. If they don't have that, could imply that they don't think project management is important, leaving you in a dead end.

That said, find out more, you never know.

That sounds like good advice to me. Every large company I have worked for has a project managment team and often each division had its own team. Contract PMs were typically for excess capacity and only sometimes went full time.

Thanks brahs.

FWIW, the employer in question is not a F500 company. Rather, it sells SaaS products to F500 companies. It's also a pre-IPO company, so they're obsessed with revenue and growth. I'm guessing this is their way of accelerating their revenue logs before they go public and I go chop-chop thereafter.

It's work I'm not remotely interested in, but I'm not so foolish as to simply spurn an opportunity. I'll see where it goes, but I have more promising leads.

I was in the men's restroom earlier today and all the urinal stations were being used up, to where it was impossible to follow the reglar protocol of not standing right next to someone else. Well eventually a couple of people finished theyn act, to where now people could establish the appropriate space. So one guy who is in the middle of the act of urinate moved one urinal to the right. But here's the thing he kept urinating during his transit, so that basically he just urinated right on to the floor. I was like "wha?"

I don't know what that is but some wiki page says he slept with a transvestite... So I am going to go with GF being the Asian version rather than me.

Today I am reminded of the words of one of my favorite laureates who said: "Pimpin' ain't easy but it's necessary."

I am reminded of that because I got my first commission today and it is huge. Until Uncle Sam came along. Still big but I'm short of what I need to get a car and my registration expires in 24 hours and I won't pass emissions, so...

I've been using a DE safety razor for years now and when I went on a trip I bought a bunch of throwaway disposables. You know, I like them better. I can do a faster, idiot prof shave that is more consistent and not lacerate myself if I fuck up. I switched to disposables and have been very happy. I looked into Harry's recently and got a handle and some blades. Garbage. Sent them back. The head gives way too much and the blades aren't sharp enough. Just tons of drag and pulling. Also, around the sideburns you're completely flying blind on how much you take off and then you can't get a sharp straight edge. Harry's is all show no go, IME. Gillette throwaways for me.

And it pisses you off because...? Disposables aren't fancy enough?

I wanted to like Harry's because the handle looks cooler, but Harry's sucks and I have an irritated neck.
