After confirming receipt of my resume, she immediately asked me what my compensation expectations are while ignoring my suggested time to chat. Keep in mind that the employer is confidential at this point and I have ZERO knowledge about the role, other than title. So I told her that I couldn't provide a range without knowing more about the role.
I fucking hate this recruiting game / dance. Ugh.
I interviewed for a technical position where they wouldn't tell me any of the details of the work to be done, as it was all classified. It was the weirdest interview, never had the slightest clue whether any of the skills I was discussing were at all relevant. They didn't give me a whole lot of direction either, was left with the impression that I was supposed to clairvoyantly determine the right topics of discussion.
Must not have picked the right collection to talk about, because I didn't get the job. Probably for the best.
